Looks like there's a couple digital download options for Starfleet Command 2. I've never played ANY version of it and was wondering if anyone here had played one of the versions from Dynaverse.net, and had any input?

Looking to pick it up...but it appears there are a few different versions...

Thanks in advance for the help.
Just purchased CE, downloading right now, will give an update later.
The iso file I downloaded from dynaverse was corrupted i'm trying to contact them now, might have to wait sometime before i get a reply.
The people at Dynaverse.net facebook page helped me resolve my problem, the game runs flawlessly on windows 10 at 60 fps!!! (orion pirates ran at 20-30 fps on win10, when it didnt crash)

So after my play testing I can give you a definitive answer:

Star Trek: Starfleet Command, the original title, if you have a machine that isn't running windows xp it is nigh impossible to get it running without it crashing.

Star Trek: Starfleet Command 2 Empires at War, The second installment in the starfleet series. This made several revisions over the original game, and unless you want the sfc1 campaign exclusives this is better. This game is a pain to get running on anything that isn't xp.

Star Trek: Starfleet Command 2 Orion Pirates, This is the standalone expansion to Empires at War (EAW), it removes the campaign but allows you to play as 8 different pirate cartels, it also adds several ships and some awesome weapons. This game is a pain to get running on anything that isn't xp.

Star Trek: Starfleet Command Community Edition, This is a remake of EAW, nothing has been removed from EAW, they added more missions and revamped the game engine so it uses more up to date software. Because the engine is upgraded it runs a lot better on modern computers, it also runs fine on windows 7, 8.1, 10. This doesn't play much different from empires at war. I would get this instead of empires at war because there are no downsides to this over eaw.

False. In sfc.ini, you merely have to set the async value to 0. If you'd read some of the earlier posts both on Dynaverse forums and here on GoG, you wouldn't have missed that.

The exact same solution is for EAW and OP. Don't forget to set it to compatibility mode for WinVista SP2.

I have tried those methods, it still crashes when a ship blows up.

False. Black Bears Are Best.

That's NOT TRUE!

Well, this is a thread I forgot existed :D

But if it would mean anything to anyone who'd Google his way to here, apparently several missions in the Community Edition (and Orion Pirates) are bugged and will crash. The best you can do at the moment is avoid them and wait for a new build to potentially fix them. But seeing how those fixes aren't done frequently anymore, you can always try to talk to people on Dynaverse.net and learn how to modify missions yourself and make a win-win for everyone.
@Plokite_Wolf
Hah!
yeah i googled my way into this topic
Thanks @nitrogenhacks for his nice dissecting of versions :)

I just wanted to add that SFCIICE now has HD patch..
look here

Indeed it does. The same guy who made it for CE also made it for Orion Pirates and SFC3.

Nice Googling skills, BTW. ;)

Is the Dynaverse market place the only place to buy most of those (apart from SFC1, which obviously is sold here on GOG)?

Its a digital download on dynaverse so i don't know, I'd assume it isn't sold elsewhere.
Yeah. Dynaverse.net claims to have received certain rights from Taldren.

Did you ever find a way to fix the corrupted ISO? I tried emailing several times to them, but never got a reply.

Thanks!

Redownload if possible. If not, join their forums and state the problem.
