Will there be a Mac version of this program? I have the original CDs for this game but have not been able to play the game in over 10 years as the software was never updated for Mac OSX. I would love to be able to play this game again on my Mac Mini. Thanks!

It's highly unlikely. MacPlay's original port was OS 9 only (and IIRC it didn't work in Rosetta). That leaves either (a) a completely source port, and (b) putting the game in a Wineskin wrapper. The former is highly unlikely, and the latter, while possible, seems to be plagued by the fact that SFA runs in 16-bit color mode, which doesn't react well with WINE in OS X (unless you use a third-party app like SwitchResX to force OS X to run in Thousands of Colors).

There's also the matter of USB joystick support, which to a limited extent is being addressed in WINE.

If you wanna play Starfleet Academy on a Mac, google for paulthetall. He uploaded a wrapper which seems to work fine.

honestly the game is such a low resource game, run it in a VM in software mode

Why wouldn't they rerelease this for Mac? They've rereleased X-wing and TIE Fighter. Those were only playable on Mac OS 9 and below.

Except those are the DOS versions run via Boxer Standalone.

I have the original 1994 5 disc-4 sleeve jacket from macplay but i can't find any information about how much its worth. Anyone have any idea?
