I was wondering the same thing... I've installed it, but I have never played either before so I don't know how to tell if it does or not.

I'll buy if it gets added in the future... the expansion was quite good, from memory!

That is sad, indeed. I made myself a DVD version out the the CD version WITH chekovs missions, so it IS easliy possible to create a game runnign from one ISO.

Curious, any plans to add this? If so I'll go ahead and pick up a copy today, otherwise will just wait and see if ever released. Thanks

My recommendation: even if you have the expansion pack on CD, don't try to install it on the GOG version!

Even after repairing my installation, the game is refusing to start (telling me to Insert CD 1).

I'm holding off till the expansion gets added myself. I still have the 5 CD set, but never played the expansion.

As an owner of the original expansion pack I do feel its fair to warn you all that this does not extend the main game.
There are some new cutscenes with Chekov and Sulu and of course in game voices but it is basically a set of loose missions.

From what I understand these had actually been cut from the main game.

Since the movie numbers on disk all belong in-between main game movies, I'm pretty sure that you're right.

Yep. They're not literally "lost", but they were originally discarded.

The thing to keep in mind though is that SFA had a long and troubled development period. These are missions that (as far as anyone knows) were cut to get the game out the door. Whether that was because the missions were seen as inferior, unnecessary (trim to get a better plot), or at the time buggy is another question entirely.

I was able to install Chekov's Lost Missions from the retail disc using the procedure below. Full post with screenshots on my blog:

Step One: Install Starfleet Academy using the GOG installer (I haven’t tried this with Galaxy, but you may be better off with the stand-alone).

Step Two: Rename the game folder. By default the game will install to C:\GOG Games\Star Trek – Starfleet Academy. Rename this to something else like C:\GOG Games\Star Trek – Starfleet Academy GOG. Do this after you’ve installed the game, don’t change the install directory.

Step Three: Insert the Chekov CD. Don’t run the installer yet, we’ve got some files to copy.

Step Four: Copy the the “m” video folders from the movies sub-folder on the Chekov disk to the movies sub-folder in your GOG installation. These should be m03, m04, m10, m11, m24, m25 and m27. Don’t copy g00.

Step Five: In your GOG installation rename cdlist.lst to cdlist.lst.old. Rename movies.lst to movie.lst.old. Copy cdlist.lst and movies.lst from the setup folder on the Chekov disk to the movies folder in your GOG installation. You can overwrite these files, but it’s a good idea to back them up by renaming them in case something goes wrong.

Step Six: Copy the contents of the sounds sub-folder on the Chekov disk to your GOG installation’s sounds sub-folder. Again this will be m03, m04, m10, m11, m24, m25 and m27.

Step Seven: Right-click on the Chekov install executable (probably setup.exe). Click Properties, then the Compatibility tab. Run in Windows 98 / Windows Me mode, and Run as Administrator.

Step Eight: Run the Chekov install. It should detect the original installation folder, and copy the files to that location, not your renamed folder. The big thing we need is the data file.

Step Nine: Rename the Chekov folder (maybe append Chekov to the folder name), and rename the GOG installation back to the original folder name.

Step Ten: Rename data.dat in your GOG installation to data.dat.old. Copy the data.dat from the Chekov install folder into your GOG install folder. No other files should be necessary. Do not overwrite the EXE files.

Run Starfleet Academy and you should see the Chekov missions in your missions tab. These don’t intersperse with the narrative as far as I know but you should be able to play them independently. Let me know if this works for you and feel free to send any questions.

That's more-or-less what I did (although I didn't run the Chekov install in compatibility mode). I saw the missions in the missions tab. But when I tried to start playing the main campaign, I got an "Insert CD 1" message.

Though since there's at least one other person in this forum who got that error without dicking with their install like me, I should just reinstall and try again. :)

The cause for the "Insert CD 1" message is the sfa.cfg file. The cfg file that comes from the Chekov install tells the program to look on the CD for the movies and sound. The one in the GOG install is designed to look in the root installation. Your sfa.cfg file should look like this:

moviePath=.
voicePath=.

(Those are periods in case it's hard to tell). Modify your sfa.cfg file to this and you should get rid of the Insert CD 1 message. I will update my post accordingly. If you follow my exact procedure you shouldn't see this error, but if you do this is the fix.
