Elite Force I works just fine, but Elite Force 2 does not, have yet to find a fix.
I'm in the same boat; Elite Forces works fine but Elite Forces II, even with adding the extra resolution lines to my .cfg file, it starts, but hangs.

seta r_customheight “1080”
seta r_customwidth “1920”

Also another tip I found was: anywhere after the “unbindall” command, add the following line:-

bind z “fov 96.4”

I've tried all the compatibility settings for the .EXE I think are relevant but to no joy :(

Starting to think it's my GPU :'(

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, but I remember having similar problems with other quake related games in the past and have never really had such a bad time as I have with this game getting those running.

Hm, Nvidia shouldn't have these issues. Have you made sure you have DirectX 9.0c manually installed properly? https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/213039385

Yeah DX is all installed fine, interestingly, EvtViewer shows: "Failed with 0x57 retrieving AppModel Runtime status for package Windows"

I'd take this to GOG's support team.
Same issue. Nvidia GTX 1080.
Try adding seta com_maxfps "120" to the cfg file that has your username in the game its /base/ folder.
Very powerful GFX Chips can go above 700 or 800 FPS and that could lock-up the game.

All the other cfg files in /base/ (the cfg files in other folders are required) are from the game Beta and Development Testers and can be deleted.

STEF2 uses userfov cvar instead of fov, userfov will be restored.
So you can put seta userfov "96" in your cfg file and the game will always use it.

You can also set the com_maxfps 120 as startparameter if you create a shortcut to the game, so you do not need to change the cfg if you prefer that.
Maybe it would help to rename the .exe?
I had a similar problem in sof2 and i renamed to an other name and now its run fine.

For sof2 it was mohaa.exe, in this game i have read from quake3.exe.

I'm having a similar issue, Nvidia 2060 Super here, the game launches, what sounds like a BGM or maybe video file attempts to play, then cuts off and I'm left with a blank screen and a half transparent cursor that cannot move and I can only alt+tab out and close the game via taskbar or task manager. Tried renaming the exe, no luck, tried the "seta com_maxfps "120"" setting, no luck either.
I HAVE A SOLUTION!

Download and install the offline version - this has worked straight away! I just need to enable the high res options in the config, but it all worked with the offline installer!

The GOG Galaxy version must have a bug in it!!

Try to change the resolution in the cfg file:

https://www.gog.com/forum/star_trek_elite_force_ii/information_for_new_players

But its not enough to copy paste, there is a line inside with seta r_mode "8", you need to rename it in "seta r_mode "-1" and than copy paste this inside:

seta r_customheight “1080”
seta r_customwidth “1920”

I would like to clarify, if you use it as Startparameter via a shortcut it should be.
+set com_maxfps 120

If anyone can Provide a screen recording on the issue all the way from start up to termination of the game that would be helpful.

Maybe this can also help, it is suppose to skip the Intro Files, which are specific Videofiles and only loaded and used on Startup.

I only tried the Offline Version, which did work fine for me.
Can someone confirm this to be a bug with the client installed ?
