This is nostalgia to me but so much commentary on it not working I feel drawn away from buying it.

shot in the dark if it will work or not. some people are getting in, though idk how. then there are folks like me that have been shafted and can't get in at all, with alot of foot dragging about a fix coming along, or they're being quiet about it. so throw of the dice if it works or not

By looking at this forum you will get the impression that a lot of people are having problems. In reality, the majority of people won't post if it works for them, only when it doesn't. I'm pretty sure this is working, like it is for me, without issue for the vast majority of people who bought it.

After installing it, when you see the installation complete box with a launch button in the middle, make sure you hit LAUNCH. That could save you a lot of issues. If you close the window, it wont change some registry settings and can cause it not to work.

It fixes some issues, mostly the menu issue, What's your issue?

Acts like it wants to start up, give me a black frame and craps out with no warning or even playing the videos. installing the 1.2.5 unofficial patch gets me the closest to getting in game then it takes a dump by giving an EAccess violation. Windows compatability options don't help and on top of that neither does adding the game to the Data Execution Prevention list of exceptions. basically dies when I launch it and so far GOG has been dragging their feet about even acknowledging this issue.
