Anyone know how to play Multiplayer on this?
OK so if GOG haven't changed the game to include multiplayer then here is how you can do it.

Install Game Ranger on your PC

You will need an account to login.

When Game ranger is open, change the middle section where it says All Games to My Games

On the Menu click Edit and then Options.

This will list all games compatible with Game Ranger.

Scroll ~Down until you see Star Trek Armada

In the bottom Right hand corner, click Browse and Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Star Trek Armada

Click Open

This will add Armada to your installed games.

Host a game. when people have joined and you are ready to launch do the following

Game Ranger does all the loading of the Multiplayer for you but this isn't working on the GOG version.

Click Multiplayer
Click TCPIP
Click Create Game
And do as you would normally with the selecting of the Map etc.

Now that you have done that, others will launch from the lobby. They will also have to click Multiplayer, TCPIP and your game will be listed. It can take about 30 seconds for your game to be listed.

IMPORTANT if this is the first time you have done this then your firewall might be blocking the connection. Make sure Private and Public networks are allowed.

This question might appear a few times before allowing you to join games.

Also sometimes the game does not list in the Armada lobby. Only had this once but simply quitting the game and rehosting fixed this.

There are already some people on Game Ranger playing. I also have all the old maps like Wardiamond and 8Ua etc.

See you there.

Multiplayer should also work via hamatchi. Also there are cool mods like
https://www.moddb.com/games/star-trek-armada-i/mods

I really wonder if the game with the right settings / fan patches / non-wormhole maps works without out-of-synchs. Do you have experience with that so far?

Looking for people to play multiplayer, with, too.
Hi.

Appreciate any input but can we not try and give alternatives to Game ranger.

If everyone is using the same solution then all players will be in one pace and more games can be played.

I have been using Game ranger for a long time now. It has game lobbies so game can easily be seen and manaed with a friends list for easy inviting.

Personally I think OOS will always be an issue but Armada seems to be running quite smoothly on GOG and Winodws 10 so maybe this will help.

I will be on gameranger later if you want a game. I hope youre good.

Thanks.
I play online with Game Ranger occasionally. My user name is Praetor John if you guys ever want to play. My brother plays too. Hopefully some type of online community respawns for this game.
I dont do PvP, but i do play sometimes with a friend on the 8 map (greatwideopen?)

we play Fed, Borg, Roms vs Players sometimes an extra. Havent had that many OutOfSyncs in a while.

Let me know if you fancy this game plays sometime.

Hi, Game Ranger doesn't work for me unfortunately, are there other options to running it? Whenever I try hosting it my friend just gets "waiting for host" forever, and when my friend hosts I can join the game and all but once it starts, their game keeps running but game ranger closes my client for some reason so i get kicked out of the game.
Also can't seem to get it working with hamatchi either, no games show up on TCP/IP and lan IPX just errors out
hi, been trying to get the game to work to play with a friend via game ranger and via hamachi. neither one worked.
for some reason I could host and they could see my game, but when they host I could not see their game.
with game ranger when I hosted they could join and we got as far as launching the game but then they got kicked out as soon as it loaded for me every time.
with hamachi it was similar except they got kicked out in the lobby.
curious as to why I could not even see the game in the list when they hosted via hamachi. when they hosted via game ranger it just gave me "waiting for host" eternally

update: we tried using "Radmin VPN" and now we can both see each other's games, but when we try to join the other it always freezes up and eventually says "The Host of this game has been lost"

Try temporarily disabling your firewalls.

I tried this and it still did not work. Can't seem to get this to work on any app that i've tried, we can always see each other's games in menus but we either get an error trying to join or it just kicks one of us out while the game is loading
Monhts on and it looks like there are more Mods than players lol

Ive seen your hosted games and joined and you never play with anyone but your close knit friends, so why post this?

TCell32, it's Able Squad from the old days. I'll check out GR from time to time to see who is around.
Hey all! I used to play this game all the time back int he day! Recently began wondering what happened to it, only to find that its been brought back here! I actually used to play back when the WON servers were still a thing, and even tried my hand at map making!

So how big is the community on Game Ranger? Is it worth my time setting all that up?
Oh, also do we have a repository some place for the old maps?
bopping is allowed
