I downloaded the mod and installed it but nothing has changed its still the same game. Am I using the wrong directory?

I installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Star Trek - Armada

Help please!

The solution from that thread should work. I have not tried myself but am 99.9% sure it will work because I used to mod this game (and Armada 2) myself and the GOG version still uses all the config files and assets from the original game so overwriting them with the corresponding folders from the mod should work just fine.
