xXSunSlayerXx: six days on GoGs end and still no expansion in sight is really a little tough.

i mean, i get it, the GoG team is nowhere near as big as the one behind steam, and a dlc for a niché game is probably not too high up the priority list, especially with their bundle-thingy last week, but when your customers are desperately trying to throw their money at you and can't do so, something is going wrong...
avatar
Matruchus: I think the problem is they are having two sales at their hands at the moment. They finished the Bundlopolis sale and now the Star Wars sale is supposedly being prepared so a dlc like this just falls through. But its nerve wrecking when its there at gog for a week and still nothing.
If it isn't up by thursday it will have been a literal week since confirmation. Someone will have to tell the devs to ask about where it is at that point.

EDIT: Also the game is on 2.0.1 now. GOG is still on 2.0

The dlc has been delivered to gog offices which Judas confirmed. The delay is on the side of gog not the developers.

I must have mixed up my words, sorry.

I mean have the devs ask GOG what is taking so long.

Yeah... this is kinda absurd. I have been wanting to play multiplayer for a while, but can't since GoG isn't updating the patches at all. What gives?
Hope they deliver the DLC to us with discount. On other platforms the DLC is already available since last week.
I should have a reason to buy from here. The game itself is already DRM free so that unique selling point is already gone. Reason I did not buy from the other platform is that I own the original on GoG and if I buy the DLC elsewhere it's not gonna work. I think twice next time I choose to buy a game here.

The patches are not a gog problem at the moment though. The devs haven't yet updated the gog version since ingame updater can't find any new patches either.
The current star ruler 2 game from gog is stable and along side Baldurs gate for my most often played game.

Quite frankly I’m happy to wait for this dlc … we get there when we get there.
I am sorry I didn't buy the steam version of this game, I would have long had the DLC, GOG maybe
just still not ready to compete.

They have updated the GOG version. A friend of mine tried a few days ago and the in-game updater currently offers the 2.0.0 update. If it is not working for you then I'm not sure why.

I am feeling the same. I like to buy on GOG but I cant help thinking wherever the hold-up it shows GOG in a very bad light. First it was the sales that were the hold up now its something else. Ill have to reconsider purchasing from GOG in the future
I'm going to pull the old man card and reminisce about a time before digital distribution. You didn't know there was a patch unless you checked the developers site. As for expansions, you had to go to the store and hope they had some in stock.

GOG may be slow at times but that's par for the course when the distributor takes such care to repackage the game/update and verify it works. Steam allows the devs to put out directly and leaves support up to them. After awhile games get abandoned and you're lucky if you can get them to run.

It's frustrating to wait right now, but I prefer to wait longer for higher quality work, on GOG's part, than deal with all the support issues I see on Steam all the time.

As xxSunSlayerxx already said. There has already been a new update to version 2.0.1 since version 2.0.0. update broke a few things and they had to be patched and a few new features were added. The patch is not yet available for gog players making multiplayer incompatible with other online players.

This is the content of new v 2.0.1 patch from 29th April:

The First

Added Lab building: consumes ore and generates research.
Scalable resources now automatically start at Level 2.
Added Infuser building: consumes a lot of base materials in exchange for upping the level of a scalable resource.
Fixed buildings continuing to be built after moving the Replicator away.
With a Replicator selected, you can now order it to move to a planet and immediately queue construction of a Core/Transmuter/Strip Miner.

Misc

Fixed an issue that caused crashes on older Intel HD cards. Intel cards are still not officially supported by the game as a whole.
Added "Engage in System" and "Hold Fire" to the engagement behavior menu.
Added "Raiding Range" to engagement range menu. The flagship will try to engage at the maximum distance that its supports can raid at.
Fixed being unable to de-queue certain technologies that only had Study unlocks.
Heralds AI recieves fewer refugee ships when playing on Normal or Easy difficulty, to match the penalties to expansion rate other races' AI get at lower difficulties.
Fixed Nano Mesh and Liquid Armor interaction causing continuous damage to the ship.
Carrier ships with no weapons of their own now have an "Attack" command to let them direct their support ships for raiding.
Fixed Annex System votes permanently marking a system as contested, disabling abandoning planets or removing buildings.
Fixed newly spawned Beacons not marking their system as always safe for jumpdrives to jump to.
Fixed Miner default design not appearing for certain races.
Fixed Beacon Armor ore cost scaling off the wrong upgrade.
Mono cost to build population now goes up if you gain empire population and down if you lose it. (eg through capturing/losing planets)

You want to wait longer for the same patches and for the DLC? Why?

"back in my days, we had to play video games on husks of corn" is not a valid argument. we are in the present, where digital distribution is a thing, and we can expect to get the benefits that come with it.

verifying that the DLC/ patch works? i surely hope that's not the case. i mean, i appreciate that they curate their marketplace, but once they already released the base game, they have commited and can't just hold back future content.

i mean, what would happen if the DLC is not up to their standards? they just never release it? what if i don't care what state the dlc/patch is in, and i want it now? i just buy the base game a second time on a different plattform?
