I downloaded/installed SoC via the beta Galaxy client. Upon attempting to launch the game, I receive the following error message:

Windows cannot find 'D:\Games\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl\Launch S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl.lnk'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.'

I've uninstalled and reinstalled once with no change in results.

Verifying/repairing results in 1 file being downloaded, but I receive the same error message upon attempting to launch the game.

I'm running Win7 64 bit.

Any suggestions for getting this to work?

Thank you.

same here.

I also tried to start the game from $gamedir\bin\XR_3DA.exe but it fails because a missing dll... "fsgame.ltx"

I don't know if it's related, but I changed my default game install dir on GOG galaxy just after installed it.

Regards.

Hi, in this case try to delete the file "user.ltx" which should be in your hard drive "Users\Public\Documents\STALKER-SHOC" folder, then try again to launch the game from $gamedir\bin\XR_3DA.exe

Have you tried to launch the game from $gamedir\bin\XR_3DA.exe instead from GOG galaxy client, as suggested by drag00nspain?
im also having this problem with galaxy. i've not tried to install with the old gog downloader.

checked "C:\Users\Public\Documents\STALKER-SHOC" folder is there with some old saves from an old dvd install but no user.itx file.

i also tried launching from XR_3DA.exe but same issue, wont launch missing fsgame.itx

There's no such file... and it must be some compatibility problem, because there's no shortcut on desktop nor on the gamedir itself...

Thanks for trying, but I need more help :)
I have an update: I installed standalone STALKER SoC on another directory, and it works flawless. I have to say, otherwise, that GOG Galaxy is also aware of that directory and changes install dir to that directory.

I have taken a screenshot. On the left, working copy of STALKER standalone (Also works after galaxy verified the game); on the right, partial and useless install via Galaxy.

I hope it sheds some light of this fail to the GOG.com team... and of course I can try anything that the galaxy team may need.

Where is the screenshot? My Galaxy client is telling me "Installation Broken".
like drag00nspain i've got it working through galaxy but had to download and install with the gog downloader first.
I had the same problem after picking up the game in the sale today. The galaxy installation seems to be broken at the moment. But like a few others here, when I downloaded the installer and ran it, it installed just fine into my normal gog directory, and then galaxy automatically picked up the game, updated it, and everything was fine.

Worked here as well. Installed into non-default GOG Games directory from GOG Downloader.

Thanks guys.
That also worked for me. Thanks everybody.

Had the same problem myself, Galaxy saying "Installation Broken". Downloaded the game through the Downloader a second time, and the game is now working without trouble.

I installed Galaxy again today (uninstalled after I ruined it when I was cleaning up my folders connected to GOG, this is one of my first purchases, and ran into the diffrent installation folder bug) and I impoted/scaned my folder in which I keep my GOG games. Both games that I have installed (Lichdom: Battlemage and Stalker: SoC) got impoted, but I can't launch SoC for some reason, the Play button is grayed out.

This doesn't make the game unplayable, I launch it from a desktop shortcut, but I am wondering if I by any chance did something wrong? And if I did, will this effect the game/ game files in any way?

Thank you,
BadBoy685

EDIT: I started Galaxy today and the problem is no longer present... Seems a system restart was needed.
