I wanted to grab the Stalker bundle mostly so I wouldn't have to keep using my old CDs (both because the CD keys were in the boxes and CoP specifically needs the disc to even play), but the GOG installer is faulty. I've seen a few other threads on here about the game crashing on startup.

My question is this: does anyone else get a message that Resources.db1 is corrupt when they try installing using GOG's files?

Second question: is there somewhere I can go to just grab that single resource folder?
or...
Second question: is GOG going to do something about this so newcomers to the series won't be put-off by the instant crash?

I forgot to mention that this issue is for Stalker Call of Pripyat. As of now I'm in the process of downloading/installing Shadow of Chernobyl to see if I can at least play that.

Try installing DirectX End-User Runtimes, the issue might be connected and it never hurts.

Run and extract the file to a separate folder, then start dxsetup.exe

Afterwards make sure all DirectX components are up-to-date by running the DirectX web installer.

You can't go somewhere and legally download parts of a game, except for official releases like demos or updates or freeware.

That has not solved the issue. When I attempt to start the game I still get an instant crash--not even able to see the main menu.
When I try to install the game through GOG's given files, I get this:

"C:\GOG Games\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat\resources\resources.db1

An error occurred while trying to copy a file:
The source file is corrupted.

You should run the installer's integrity check to verify which files need to be re-downloaded.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation."

The issue seems to be the files GOG is sending out, not something on my end.
Someone posted a possible solution to this on a youtube with somewhat broken English, but I will try my best to interpret it. ;)

You will need 2 copies of each installation file. Run the 1st installer, when it gives you the error, do nothing with it and run the 2nd installer. This should give you the error too, so close this 2nd installer and click on Retry to try again on 1st installer. If there are more errors, repeat this process.

Not sure if it will work though. ;)

Yeah...that's not a solution. Partially because whenever I start up the second installer, it tells me it doesn't have the third part...despite me having two copies of the third part in the same folder.

This is quickly raising from a minor annoyance to GOG selling something that just plain doesn't work.
Shadow of Chernobyl works at least. Haven't tried Clear Sky.

Use the GOG Downloader to re-download the game, maybe the files are indeed corrupt. The Downloader checks file integrity.

Also send a ticket to support, they're usually helpful.

EDIT: I checked the current English version and it installs flawlessly here, so it's not a general problem with the installer.

Check the CoP CD, I think you will find some oil or grease on the CD. I checked mine when I had the exact same problem, it wasn't much,. I used some eyeglass cleaner and the problem was solved.
Best of luck I was all set to blame Tages.
