I have downloaded the first patch for stalker 2 and ran it. I get the error message that my game is the wrong version. How can this be. This is the games first patch. It's says update from version 424 and that is the version I have installed.
Please don't tell me I have to download the whole game again.

Oh, wait it has actually installed a version 436. This as not the version number stated when I downloaded it.

Yep, you are probably on 436, there's a thread about this with GOG's answer: https://www.gog.com/forum/stalker_series/stalker_2_42
It might be that you need to download the whole thing again but I'm not sure.
Oh ffs GOG. Really regretting not getting this on Steam now.

Anyone know if our saves will work in that version? Probably have to re-install to get 523 because they gave us 436 on release.

I haven't seen devs recommening starting a fresh save and usually you could trust the saves work after an update. However going through peoples experiences (on steam), few report that the saves don't work after the update, which could be because of variety of reasons. But then again, what are your options?
Personally, I uninstalled the game and will wait for more patches as the the AI spawning has not been addressed in this update. And few people are still reporting of crashes like before, which I encountered too.

Hi2All.

Can confirm that all my saves get fully loaded and are working as they should. All parts are there, questlines in correct stages and no further issues about the saves.

Alas I have to tell that I had 0 (zero) chrashes, stuttering or similar issues at all in the first 15hours.

Hope that does help with any decision.

cheers

How do I check my installed version? I'm pretty sure I'm on 424

Trying to use the patch only gives me a heap of file modification errors in the patch_log.txt
Same thing here. The game version I have is not the right version for the patch. Thanks a lot gog. Now I have to download all 40 files again and I'll probably have to start a new game too. SMH!

Same here and I'm not happy at all. My own fault I should have bought it on Steam.
The offline patch works just fine, but you need enough free space on your ssd to apply it. I installed the game through Galaxy, and tried to patch it there as well, but that failed because my drive had less than the required 140GB(!!!) free space. Hoping the offline patch would require less free storage space, I tried that one, but it didn't work either. Only after freeing enough space could the game be patched.

It doesn't for me as the files I downloaded from GoG are 436 were they should have been 424. That was a cock up on GoGs part and the patch does not work. on version 436. So downloading the patch was a waste of time too.
Now I am forced to download the whole thing again v 10523
Gog really need to get their act together when it comes to wasting customers time.

Oh no, according to steam they have released patch 1.02. I really hope GoG gets the patch right this time.

Again, new patch and the offline installer doesn't work.

Galaxy/S2 asks for 136GB free space which is utterly ridiculous to ask for. Downloading the offline patch and running it doesn't work..

edit: after trying to run 1.0.523->1.0.542 patch a couple times I tried again Galaxy. It of course complained about not having enough space (because !!!! freeing up another 140GB of space just to make a patch); and somehow this software now thinks my game is uninstalled and is asking me to download and reinstall everything.

Same for me. I've tried to patch 424 (77893) to 1.0.523 (78128) and everything that I saw was "Some errors occured, see patch log" with a lot of "Error modifying bla-bla-bla" lines in patch_log.
Yesterday while I was downloading the game again so I could have the proper version for future updates a new patch was released and the game version was changed again before I could get all 40 files. So I had to start over. AGAIN.

I love you gog but there has to be a smoother way of handling the offline installer files. Maybe there is a way you could allow games to be downloaded through galaxy, only have an option to download the files for install without galaxy. Use galaxy as some sort of download manager.

I was stuck in this loop for a while myself. GOG doesn't seem to care. They will even blame GSC for it. I know I am not buying any more games here after this mess.
