Aye - also might be an idea to play Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat before Lost Alpha due to some features added to LA.
You might also want to try Priboi Story (a mod for SoC by Dez0wave) after that too.

Anyways, hope you enjoy it! :)
Possibly the funniest crash report I've had:

Expression : assertion failed
Function : CUIWindow::SetParent
File : ui\UIWindow.cpp
Line : 643
Description : !(m_pParentWnd && m_pParentWnd->IsChild(this))

(read in a broad scots accent if you can)

Seems legit.
AI seems better during the day. Getting my ass handed to me trying to steal the military documents.

Liking the resource balance so far. I don't feel like I have massive amounts of ammo, and while I do have 10 medkits, I've only picked up a few bandages. Of course, this sort of thing is hard to judge from only a few hours of play, but still... finding myself running a little low on ammo currently, which makes me very happy.

Well, I'm in dark valley right now and its (currenltly) getting even harder - but I'm not gonna spoil it for you! :)
A lot of fixes for things there were already fixes for / basic advice to avoid the crash.
Even now the moddb page is flooded with the same damn requests.

This is very good news :D
Seems patch is due tomorrow afternoon European time... sometime.
I was really expecting them to free up A-life a little, like GSC did for Call of Pripyat. But it seems pretty identical to what was in Shadow of Chernobyl, with predictable groups of NPCs that don't move around a lot. Kind of disappointing. Maybe things will go crazy in freeplay?
PATCH UPLOADED - Awaiting ModDb approval.

PATCH 1.3001 INFO:

The patch is savegame compatible, so You do not have to start new game for this patch, but for maximum experience it's recommended. Otherwise better start before crash with safe on darkdolina level to avoid broken saves.

If you installed 3rd party / user made fixes and mods for Lost Alpha, it's highly recommended to reinstall the game to have a clean install before you apply the official patch. This is required to avoid conflicts with the 3rd party content. We can not give support for such cases.

If you are driving car and arriving to a level changer, please get out of the car, and check if you can enter the map or not on foot, because if there is a blocker, you will loose the car, since the blocker only turns back the player, but not the car. We will include a fix for this in the 2nd update soon, until then please be cautious... especially in the beginning of the story, when many maps are unaccessible.

Hmm... tried it with dx9 rather than dx10. Looks very different. Seems more colorful, and more "STALKERy" looking, and has cloud shadows, but shadows are less dramatic and sunrays look a little ridiculous. I've also heard that dx10 might be more buggy than dx9.

I dunno. Any reason to chose one over the other? I.e, was the game designed around one or the other? There doesn't seem to be much of a performance difference between the two, just a visual difference.

... I don't get it.

I'm talking about the different render options. Not the new patch.
