Seriously 20 bucks for Spellforce 2 and it's expansion? it sounds like a joke - especially if you consider you can get the Gold Edition of Spellforce 2 for much less all over Europe...
I agree i just saw they released the stand alone expansion for the same price as the original spellforce 2!

That's pretty crazy but it's the publisher JoWooD who set the prices that high (they seem to have a few $9.99 games) i guess they are just incredibly greedy.

Thankfully i did get spellforce platinum on sale not too long ago at $4.99 so i would probably wait on a sale if you want to pick up JoWooD games.
Valid concern. What's going on here GOG?
We're used to better :D
Considering you're all in the € / £ crowd i'd suggest you guys do your math. The game and expansion it's 30% cheaper here on GOG than on any other platform.

I was talking about the retail version.
Take into consideration the fact that Spellforce 2 and it's expansion suffers from a great number of different compatibility and DRM-related issues when using the retail versions. To get it to work on a fairly standard build with Vista 32-bit a few years ago, I had to contact some guy on the Spellforce forum who had made his on patch to fix a few errors. After that the game worked, but not smoothly. Also, it wasn't even possible to have both Spellforce 2 and it's expansion installed at the same time without all hell breaking loose!

...and to accuse GOG of not doing enough, come on! Stop poking holes in something great! If another site has better prices on a few of the games available here, GOG still offers these games with no DRM and playable on modern systems. I still think that's great!

Yeah, but what you should have done was compare gog's price to those of the platforms offering a similar service because retail is an entirely different ball game.

Bottomline, gog's price of game+XP, with extras, is the same as that of its competitors, without extras, for the $ crowd. For the €/£ crowds gog's price is 30% cheaper because unlike its competitors gog deosn't shaft the €/£ crowds.

So there isn't any justification for any sort of drama over the price of the game and/or addon, and there's certainly no justification for your review, sorry mate.

by the by, Spellforce 2 gold retail is going on play.com for 13£ - that's 20 bucks.

Personally, I consider a retail version with packaging, manual, and no DRM the better service. I don't see how 10 dollars for each individual game is justified compared to this.

Do you get tech support from those sellers ? The ability to redownload anytime anywhwre ? You mentioned DRM free. Are all those versions you linked DRM free ? Because I'm under the impression some of those versions come wwith either Starforce or Tages. Have you considered that not everybody around the world qualifies for free delivery and in those cases you'll have to factor that on top of the displayed price ?

In any case, i never said you couldn't get it cheaper what i said was that it's unfair to draw comparisons between retail and digital prices because they're different things all togheter. By all means go get it retail but cut the crap.

As for your personnal prreferences they're neither here or there. The ability to redowloand anytime/anywhere makes the digital versions of any game vastly superior for me to the point that i'm willing to pay more for them than for their retail equivalent. So what ?

Where did you get the idea that the retail versions have no DRM? You couldn't be more wrong about that.

If you want an explanation of how $10 each is justified, its simple: all the other digital download service that carry Spellforce 2 are selling the game and its expansion pack separately for $10 each or the combined gold edition for $20. GOG's prices are simply competitive with their market. Add to that the fact that GOG has removed the DRM and added extras that aren't available to any other version of the game, including the retail version, and the GOG price is actually a much better value than the other digital distributors.

Lol

Just wait for a Steam or GG sale. You can buy Spellforce platinum and Spellforce 2 gold for a VASTLY cheaper price.

I got spellforce universe(that's ALL existing games) for only $11.98.

Yeah, i have them on my gog shelf already so a sale won't interest me none, but if i were to wait for a sale i'd wait for a sale on gog ;)

Because the other people used to complain about everything and everywhere, even when they are not FORCED to use gog.com to buy games.

You have found that game cheaper than on GOG? Good for you! And stop being annoying. :P
