Hello, I've looked at some threads of people getting this game to work in widescreen, but none of those ways seem to work for me. My game is either in what I assume is the 4:3 resolution or if it gets changed it says something about updating my drivers and desired resolution not found.

I have no idea why the hell I'm struggling so hard to find a fix ANYWHERE.
I've played this game before and somehow I got it to work before, but it's been over a year and I can't remember what I did to get it to work and I've exhausted all my options now so I'm turning to the forums.

Hello, I wasn't able to get the rar files to run for some reason. Neither 1.6 or 1.5 work. I can't open the rar files for some reason I get some error. Guess I'll have to settle for black borders on my screen if I wanna play this game.

Really weird though, I how I managed to find a fix before and now there are none. I wonder why all of them got deleted.
I did find some widescreen fixes on nexusmods or moddb, but the files were gone. Guess people gave up on this game or something.

Also a lot of stuff got taken down by users because of some new policys the hosting websites forced on the users.

I am using winrar. I am getting some kind of error like I said, I can't open the file to extract any files from it.
I don't have those issues with other rar files.

please update your winrar to the latest version, if that does npot solve it, contact me at the forum via Pm and i will see if i can change the format for you.

You are the very 1st one with this issue. Sounds a lot like outdated winrar version.

Install the mod directly into the directly of the game next to the main game exe (via the setup (rightclick -> start as administrator)).
Then start the gameshortcut on your desktop directly with admin permissions (rightclick -> start as administrator).
If you still have issues with the mod, please use the thread on the forum.

More and more issues I find.

I got it to work. Only now when the game is running it's as if it's displaying at a lower resolution than what it's showing me, because when I for example put my mouse over let's say the first option on top campaign nothing happens I can't click on that. Instead Ineed to move my mouse slightly up and to the left and then it highlights the option campaign. Same thing for everything else. If I want to press exit, my mouse has to be placed on options and then it highlights the exit button.
It finally works, but this kind of makes it unplayable, because nothing is where it's actually at this way.

Sounds like the mouse got desynced. Restart the game (via the new shortcut the mod created for you on your desktop) and wait for the game to be fully loaded before moving the mouse (with the mod). That should solve it. Also please share your experiences here:

Sorry the mod didn't work for me I did what you said, but the mouse was still weird.

After I updated my winrar though I tried donwloading the widescreen fix from nexusmods and that one worked this time so I can play the game now.

Strange you had these issues. Would like to have found the source of the issue to prevent it from happening in the future again.

So I tried installing this mod, installation was fine (v1.8) - but when it runs the game, it still crashes when I click the options button.

Screen size is 1920x1080. If I start from the mod, SF crashes if I click options. If I start from GoG Galaxy or straight from the game exe, it tells me resolution not supported.

Please read the manual PDF and start it with the needed permission level.

The ingame options are not compatible with overrendered values. please configure the config.xml directly by hand before starting the game. Old internal functions of the game are not compatible with the new high numbers. Also please read the spellforce.info forum thread. All about it stands there and in the MANUAL PDF.

I installed and run the mod using Run as Administrator. I did read the manual and fairly sure I did it correctly. Including a screenshot.

So should I just not click on the options button in the game? Will that always just crash the game?
