if i have the choice between greedy valve and GoG - i choose GoG and give a f... on achievments ;)
i understand thats achievments are a point to play a game for most people
and i think it will be coming ;)
have a nice weekend
Hey,
Unfortunately we added the achievements just shortly before the release. Also we previously never did GOG achievements as we never really saw a demand for this. Will keep an eye on this.

Many GOG users, prefer GOG because we don't have to put up with this sort of Console/Steam rubbish.
Many of us don't even want, or use GOG Galaxy, and refuse to install it.

I haven't checked whether Galaxy is required for this games multi-player, because I have little interest in it.
The interest in achievements is from mostly Steam users, getting a GOG game, for some unknown reason.
Then expecting it to be just like Steam, while the long time GOG users, stick to the offline installers, that they want.

I expect a game with Multiplayer on GOG, to have the required user side client functions in the game.
Not require the use of GOG Galaxy, or Steam Clients, just for multiplayer functionality.
Most devs take this easier option, but Larian Studios did this better with Divinity Original Sin, no Galaxy is required.

I don't need, or want useless store clients in my Game, so if you add stupid achievements, and force galaxy requirement for multiplayer, please do the same with the achievements, so I can avoid both by not using Galaxy, and sticking to the campaign.

Why are the reviews late, are you not giving out the codes until release, or just before?
When I can read/watch Single Player Campaign reviews, i will make my buy/not buy decision based on them, not before.

Edit, I don't trust shill sources like IGN, N4G, only 4 reviews on metacritic yet, which tells me the honest sites never got release codes, which is a bad sign, I don't want to just see a number either, I want to know the full reasoning behind an opinion.

Well to be honest I don't see why you shouldn't add the achievements to gog as well. I mean they usually are the same as the Steam ones so I assume it is not that much of an effort. Unless the system gog uses for this is some sort of obstacle. I for one don't really need them, but I do appreciate them when they pop up.

So please reconsider and I consider buying your game, deal?! ;)

Please, if it was shortly before release, it can be done here on gog then? if its not to much of a job to do it? its a nice add on for me, and allot of others. so i hope you would think about it, at THQ. <3
The thing is we have tons of experience with Steam achievements but not with GOG achievements. So we would need to learn that. We opted to focus on making the game really better and we can look into it later.

@UhuruNUru
Yeah, totally makes sense and I agree.

The first time you did it on steam, im sure you did not know either...... :-) so i hope you will do it later on, and then put an option for those there dont want it...then all is happy and more there is happy, means more happy costumers, more sales ;-) also futurer on ;-)

I for one could care less about achivements. I buy the game for the game not the achivements.

What most of us that hate achievements want, isn't to deprive you of them, it's to not have them forced on us.

I don't care about such things, like Galaxy, because it's "Optional".
I do care if lazy devs, make it a requirement for accessing multi-player.
If a game has Multi-player modes, it should have an in game client, not use Galaxy (General talk here, doesn't apply to SpellForce 3).

I'm all for adding options, for any features, whether I might want them, or not, as long as they're totally optional.
I don't even care if achievements are switched on by default, as long as I can switch them off, and never see them in game.

Where I might take issue in adding such features, it's purely a matter of priorities.
Essential features must come first, including game affecting bug fixes.

One feature I consider more essential, for disability access reasons, is a tactical pause function for single player.
It would also make it easier for new players to get used to the core games systems, before they move onto multi-player.
Plus, those that only want to play in single player mode, have no effect on the multi-player modes at all.
So I would also enable it for the solo Skirmish mode.

Again it should be optional, but I'd consider enabling more disabled people to experience the game essential.
The devs, apparently don't. Which is a more serious problem than enabling any side feature.

So don't think users voicing their dislike for a feature, is them trying to deprive those that want it.
It's much more important to show there's no one size fits all, mentality here on GOG.
Make every possible feature optional, and let each user decide which ones they want to use, not the devs, or any vocal mob.
