Why is it called Space Rogue Classic? Is Night Dive or whoever working on a new one?

That could be nice.
Like how ND avoided IP conflicts with Strife (as there is a newer game with that name as well) they stuck "Classic" on the end of it.

Oh I didn't know about another game called Strife.
But I previously stumble upon the newer Space Rogue, but I forgot about it until now. You explanation makes sense.
Another interesting bit is that this was published by Night Dive not EA, but maybe Paul Neurath took the rights with him when he founded his own company and when Looking Glass went bankrupt these rights were also bought by some investment company.
