Put in a support request asking for the new (uh, 3 months old, anyway) patch a week ago, and haven't received a reply. I realize GOG has to prioritize their resources, and this clearly isn't an overly popular game on GOG (forums are pretty dead), but I'm going to be rather unhappy if I don't even get a reply. May try badgering them some more in the near future.

Have you got any answer yet?

Also, i thought the updates were managed and uploaded by the devs, so if we don't have the files here or the patch is because devs and not GOG? No idea, just asking :D

I have asked the devs also at Steam forums, but no answer yet...

No reply yet, I'm afraid. Updates require both the devs and GOG - I believe GOG does the final uploading, so it's not an automatic process. More to the point, if it is indeed a dev issue it would be nice if GOG would at least reply with a "Hey, working on it, just waiting on the files" instead of the silence I've received. I got the "support request received" automatic email, and nothing since then.
Update: finally received a reply from support, 19 days after sending the request. Essentially a non-answer, the text of which was:

Hello, I apologise for the delayed response, caused by the increased support traffic during the recent summer sale.

Unfortunately we were still unable to add these updates, but we are still working on it. Unfortunately I can't predict when we manage to update Space Rangers HD.

Since you purchased the game over a year ago, I am unable to offer you a cash refund, which I should do after such a long wait for the patches. I can, however, offer you a refund in store credit, which you could use for another purchase on GOG.
Just please note that due to legal reasons the store credit is valid for a year. You will need to spend it before the year passes or increase your store credit balance to extend the expiration date.

Regards,
Reading between the lines, I get something like "We're severely understaffed because of Summer Sale/Galaxy/whatever, and can't be bothered to update unpopular games." I would love to be proven wrong, of course...

Feel free to submit your own support requests if you're looking for the update - perhaps if GOG has to hand out enough refunds they'll consider it worthwhile to track down the update.

I'm considering it myself, not just for this game either. And yes, I completely agree with your 'reading between the lines' statement, as I've always been suspicious of it.

Urgh, that's...very bad. I don't think they are understaffed because sale, he/she is saying about the delayed answer. And, even that, what i read is that "still working on it" can be eternal. They had enough time to update game before summer as they did on Steam, and updating a version but not the other one drm-free is...worse, imo, and leave all GOG cutomers with a bad feeling that we are less than those who bought game on Steam.

So is not only the feeling that they are not willing to update this here (and they have already the code updated for Steam so, i don't know but i don't think updating here would be a lot of work and pain for them), but also that they are "severely understaffed" in general and not in a specific moment. Having the update already for a shop-version and doing this to all of us here is giving themselves a horrible image. I really feel "less" customer although i probably paid same money as the others.

Don't sell the game here if you don't like to update this free version. This is an unacceptable behaviour for a "professional" studio/company. What is worse is that i went to Steam forum (devs appear there sometimes to give news and updates not like here that we are all abandoned) and i'm still waiting for dev's answer in it's own thread since a month and half. That says a lot, silence is the worse of answers and combined with your answer...a bad future for the game here.

Maybe the problem is that 1C don't have staff to update their games, even though is still a big company in Russia with a lot of employes. Anyway, there are no excuses for this. Wait for me to buy another of your games. I have seen some of them prepared to release in your site, but it seems you are another of those companies that don't hesitate abandoning games and customers when they please. Fantastic, and i have enjoyed a good bunch of your games, like Fantasy Wars, King's Bounty, the old Perimeter, Elven Legacy -although these ones are published by Paradox- and even a copy of Space Rangers Reboot, all retail.

Nevermore. 0 official explanations for this, trying to avoid questions about lack of updates here since you updated Steam version 5 months ago, and now an answer offering the customer that asked for the update GOG credit? Of course, you are not going to offer all of us money, that will be too much. But you know? I don't want money, i just want my game updated as the rest of customers that already have it.

I'm not a "second class" customer, 1C :P

My ultimate measure - the point where I think customer service is ridiculously low - is if the latest version/patch is available from "unofficial" sources before it gets to GOG. Unfortunately the latest update was available on those sites months ago!

AFAIK, the only way for GOG customers to get the latest patch right now is to pirate it!

Way to inspire confidence in the non-DRM solution there... :(
This basically has me on hold when it comes to GOG. I'm not purchasing any further titles here as it's clear the games are not being updated properly. Why on earth should I waste time and money on this bad service?

I don't know, maybe because the "bad service" you are talking about is almost 100% sure caused by the devs not uploading DRM-versions of their patches to GOG, so by sticking with GOG you can be sure that you don't end up unknowingly supporting such devs on other platforms?

Devs on offcial forum claims that they sent builds to GOG each time, but no updates come out.

To be clear, my interaction with support was directly with GOG - I haven't contacted the developer/publisher.

I would respectfully disagree with this sentiment. I love GOG - been with them since the beginning - but this feels like objectively bad service. GOG took 19 days to even respond to a request for the patch and couldn't provide a straight answer regarding the status of the patch. I can't think of any business where 19 days is an acceptable response time for a customer service request.

More to the point, GOG's promise from the beginning is to keep games updated to work with modern systems - and in my view that includes keeping games updated with current patches. As squid830 said, it's a bit ridiculous to be forced to turn to piracy if one desires the most recent patch - part of the allure of systems like GOG is to make it easy enough to purchase and update a game that piracy becomes an unattractive alternative.

From what I can garner from google translate, it does seem the devs are indicating that they do, in fact, send patches to GOG. I would not be surprised if this is simply a case of GOG prioritizing more profitable games - but frankly, if GOG doesn't see any value in supporting a game they shouldn't be selling it.

Again, I would love to be proved wrong. A clear response from GOG doesn't seem to be forthcoming, however.

Quick update after writing this post: it appears there's another patch now, so we're even further behind here at GOG. The patch notice post on the steam forums also spawned a discussion of GOG updates (which quickly devolved into name calling, but that's the internet, eh?). And - rather comically proving the point about piracy - a quick perusal of the less savory corners of the web indicates that the new patch is already available for pirated versions of the game. Rather absurd.
