The intro video does not show in Space Rangers 2. I only get sound. Is there a solution to this problem?

Same problem here. During the intro video there is a big text on the screen, though, saying "NOTHING TO OUTPUT: BFRAME DECODER LAG"
Getting the same thing myself, in a way I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.
It has something to do with .vdo files. Windows Vista and Windows 7 do not support them. I googled for a long time and couldn't find a solution to this problem. :( This makes me sad and angry, because I am the kind of person that loves watching videos in games. Maybe GOG can fix this?

Same here, black screen (no text or nothing), only sound. I wonder if this will be the same for other in-game videos? Game seems to work though (I have just started, so cant say for sure).

Using Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
If the intro (.vdo file) doesn't play, none of the other videos will play because the other videos are also .vdo files.

As I also use Ubuntu, I tried installing it with Wine. After some fiddling with settings (setting sound as emulation mostly (not the driver) - also selecting both ALSA and OSS, dont know if that is important, but its what I have set atm), I got both intro video and with sound :) Only thing the hardware cursor was a bit messed up, setting this to software fixed that.

Also, I removed all tickmarks under "Window settings", IE no window decoration nor window manager control. Windows version is XP (as a setting in Wine).

One thing probably worth mentioning is that I tried to install directX over a year ago, and some windows programs wont work anymore, and some do.. not sure what broke it, but I just let it be. For rangers.exe I havent added any library overrides anyway.

Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit btw. Same machine (dual booting),

Same here. I've got Windows 7 64 bit, 4GB RAM. I only get the logos of 1C Company and elemental games. I then get a faded picture of Cenega before the "NOTHING TO OUTPUT: BFRAME DECODER LAG" pops out with some sounds in the background. I press Esc to get to the main menu. Only just started to play this game so I don't know if there're any in-game videos and if they play or not.

I played SR2 a long time ago and had the same problem. I had the same problem with MechWarrior 4 Mercenaries as well. I think the problem was fixed by opening Windows Media Player, opening Tools - Options (by right clicking on the title bar) and then selecting the File Types tab. I seem to recall that by unselecting one particular file type I was able to make the intro video work, but I don't remember which file type it was.

When you had this problem and fixed it, was your OS Windows XP or Windows Vista?

It was Windows XP.
I'm having the same problem with a Windows 7 system. Any solutions ?
I'm assuming none of us ever found a solution to this? I've still got nothing (Win7, 64-bit)

I have the same problem.
Same here, just bought SR2 and installed it on Windows 7 64-bit. When the BFRAME DECODER LAG message comes up I can press ESC to get to the Start screen, so I guess I could start playing it. But what about cut scenes in the game, aren't they important? Will it spoil the game not being able to see them?
