Ok, if I understand you correctly you're saying which upgrade you'll get (at least in relation to components that have multiple upgradeable stats) is randomly assigned each day. If that's right does that mean i could just make a save before the upgrade and hit end turn in the science station and possibly get the other stat increase the next day? Obviously if it's chosen at random each day it wouldn't work every time with just one hit of the end turn button but if it really is random then reloading the save game and hitting end turn should give you a chance for the other upgrade potentially saving you in game time.

Based on my personal experiences I was kinda expecting the answer to be something along those lines but I was also kinda hoping for something more predictable. If anybody else can confirm this to be the case that would be a useful piece of information. I can actually just keep reloading and retrying the upgrade after hitting end turn instead of flying around with unupgraded weapons till i randomly decide to stop at a space station that happens to want to give me damage upgrades.
Yes, the equipment upgrade depends on the equipment and current day. On them parameters of pseudorandom number generator are selected. Save/Load it is useless here.

As it works:
1. Landing on scientific base and saving.
2. Upgrade equipment and writing numbers
3. Loading saving of paragraph 1
4. Switching next day - push space bar.
5. Upgrade equipment and writing numbers
6. Loading saving of paragraph 1
7. Switching next 2 days - push space bar two times
8. Upgrade equipment and writing numbers
9. etc...
...
10. Load saving of paragraph 1
11. Upgrades any equipment required characteristics of a particular day, based on recorded number depending on game day.

:)

Ah, I see. It's "random" in the sense that it often is in turn based games due to the difficulty of creating true randomness in a computerized system. Though for clarification, are you saying that the quality of the upgrade is random as well? For instance, the 21 dmg upgrade I got on my aeonic blaster may have been a 15 dmg upgrade on another day? If so that's very interesting and something that's probably gonna cost me a lot of time flipping through the days in a space station just to see what happens. =D

Yes, for games of a series Space Rangers it is true

At each item/equipment in game is hidden parameter a responsible choice of number PRNG, and day as a matter of fact it 'seed' . The exact formula as it in code calculates an upgrade developers know only.

Many limits in game depend on a choice at start of new game - LUCK

Good to know, i've already wasted a good amount of time trying out several days of waiting in a space station to see what I got. It doesn't seem to vary by much though.

Not sure how that works. There are only really two choices to be made at the start of the game (race/class) unless you're referring to the early portion of gameplay. Personally I find by far the easiest start to be the fayean trader. He starts with a large hulled well equiped ship with, most importantly, a good engine. I spent most of the game using the same fuel tank he started with thanks to a nice upgrade and the extra starting cash and hold space allows you to earn that much more money from the tutorial trade mission.

SR1 - it difficulty level

In SR1, in difference from SR2, it has no big advantage

This game script and it has a significant error, which is used by all champions -
"Six-monthly trade in medicines" - SMTM

Here is the algorithm of actions to trigger this glitch for example:
1) start a new game;
2) press "S" and we sell all his equipment, except engine and fuel tank;
3) press "G" - DO NOT PRESS REPLY!!! "Thanks, but an was counting ...";
4) press "T" - turn out from the Government in Trade Center and buy a pack of 30 pc medicines at a price of 15 cr/pc;
5) repeat steps 3 and 4 until fully loaded ship;
6) fly to the next, the quest planet, where speculator wait =);
7) sell all imported medicines at 24 cr/pc;
8) fly back and repeat steps 3 ... 8.
9) end of 16.06.3000 of script trade, you can earn from 40000 to 90000 credits

Yeah, that's a big part of the problem in finding information about SR1. Everybody is always talking about SR2. =D

That's what I thought. From what i've read about SR2 so far character creation sounds a lot more involved (though i'm still going to be a fayean in that game just because I like them the most as a race.)

Good to know that there is such a glitch (though I wonder if it works with just storing the equipment instead of selling it) but personally I try to avoid glitches once I am aware of them.

In my case I was just referring to the fact that he starts with a decent amount of spare cargo space and enough cash both to repair all the damage to his ship AND fill the extra cargo space with medicine. The difference isn't huge but it's a little extra cash that a lot of the other race/class combinations aren't getting.
Rather than repeat specifics, which have already been mentioned, I would like to talk generically about playing SR2 (and SR1!):

It's not so much that SR is a difficult game, so much as it's an "old-school" game, i.e it requires that you read and re-read the manual as you play though the first 5-6 hours of the game.

90's games like Railroad Tycoon, Elite, Darklands, almost any 90's RPG and even shooters like the original Half life all forced you to play the same way, reading the manual while playing the start of the game until you got your head around them! In today's market where hand-holding has become an art form, a complacency has developed in gamers. So gamers of the 90's would say "what are those crossed swords above that star system? I think i'll check the manual", whereas gamers of today will say "I wonder what those crossed swords are above that system" - as they fly into it.

I also notice a couple times where posters have said they thought something was undocumented, that indeed the feature WAS in the manual! For those that have a hard copy of the game, they have to remember the 12 page printed manual is a starter guide. It's the 80 page PDF manual on the CD they need to read!

SR is a game where you need to immerse yourself in the gameworld. You need to think logically, and if you don't know what an icon means, check the manual! By placing yourself in the gameworld, it will not only be more enjoyable, but you come to terms with the game a lot quicker.

As I still play 90's games I still have in my collection, I have not been weaned off the need to invest more than 10 minutes when it comes to an 100 hour game!

I have just bought Starflight in the Xmas sale, for example. And that game offers a notice board at the home space station that will have a notice like "an ancient ruin is rumoured to be on system 178,45" and if you don't right that down, it is not recorded anywhere else in the game! The notice board at the start of a new game has three such co-ordinates to investigate, so before you even leave the space station for the first time, you already have one page of a notepad filled! Now you're on a planet searching for said ruin, but you have to keep an eye on your rover's energy, as if it runs out before getting back to your spaceship, you have lost it - and it's 40,000 credits to get another one! Same with fuel in your ship. If you run out, it's game over! By the time I finish this 100 hour game I will have a notepad full of notation, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

So take your time and enjoy the experience. Read and re-read the manual while you play, and expect to restart the game two or three times in the first half a dozen hours while you learn the intrinsics of the game. You will learn to enjoy the game quicker and will be more immersed in this fantastic game universe!

Go for courier missions a lot first, and also some trade. Invest early in a high-jump engine and then a fuel tank with at least as many points as the engine has jump capacity. After you get the hang of the controls, invest in a higher-capacity hull for more trading and faster profits.

Keep at least 30,000 available at any one time, dipping into this only to fill up the hull with pricier loads for a big fat profit run to another system.
In space rangers there are many text missions.I can solve all of them except one mission.This mission is given by gallion goverment and they tell me to use my wits and reasoning.This mission is to open a library but to open i will send 4 brothers to other side of river in 18 hours exactly.1st brother take 1 hour to cross the river with a boat.2nd brother takes 2 hours,3rd takes 5 hours and the last takes 10 hours.The boat can take 2 brothers at each time but the speed of the boat is equal the speed of the slowest brother.The boat takes 2 brother to other side and must come back with one brother.The problem is that there is not enough time even i use the fastest brother with speed of 1 hour. Please help me to find the answer with exact procedure.

In space ranger where and how i can find pirate Rachekhan and how to kill him?In previous game i meets with Macheplla(klissan mother ship) and let her free but i cannot find Rachekhan and the game is end.And please guide me how to play smart in hyper space battle.With 2 or 3 pirates i can handle it.But they are too many i cannot win.They take all power ups especially regeneration.

I see how that can be done in 17 hours, but I can't make it work with 18 hours exactly. Are you sure it's not 18 hours or less?
