Having played many many many hours of Galactic Civ II and MoO 2, I was wondering if anyone would recommend this game? It looks promising but since I have sunk so many hours into the two aforementioned games, would this be just more of the same or does it bring something different to the table?
I've been playing a lot of space 4X games, the two you mention among them and I'd say Space Empires IV Deluxe is easily on the top of my space 4X list. I think I've played it more hours than even MOO and MOO 2.

Been a long time since I played those games now so I can't remember any big differences but if you like the genre you can not go wrong with SE 4 Deluxe.
Now when it's on GOG I've bought it for the third time and is really looking forward to playing it again this weekend. It's a true Gem in the genre.
I'd say got for it. It's got tons of techs so you can go crazy and design that dream ship that you've always wanted to create. Also, since it's so complex some people might be turned off by it, but at this price, definite give it a go!
Well, if you are ready to leave all your childish sandboxes and toys (GalCiv and MoO) behind and fly to the stars - buy it now and tell your relatives not to bother you in next couple of weeks :) SE IV is far more complex, deep and yes - hard to master game but the award is worth it.

Totally agreed. I'm hopelessly absorbed in this game and I'm really digging how seriously the subject matter is taken. MoO was a great introduction and Galactic Civilizations was unfortunately a let-down for me. This game and Alpha Centauri are certainly the pinnacles of this genre!

I'm surprised this game hasn't been in the TOP SELLERS category yet. I suppose it's because of the graphics, but I don't have a problem with them at all. Only the race portraits are a bit lame, but in a way it adds to the character of the game.

Give it a try. I've had this game for years, I'm glad to see it's on GOG now maybe it will interest some new people. There's tons to do in the game, and lots of mods.
