I have tried starting up the game several times but it never even gets close to launching. When I click the game's icon it appears on the bottom bar like an app should, but then it quickly vanishes.

I have tried reinstalling the game and playing it from the initial folder but nothing has worked so far.

That is so very helpful _NOT_ for others with similar problems :-P
