waltc: What fixes have you tried?
TexCanaan: Pretty much everything in this thread and the related Soulbringer threads, except those that suggest downloading specific .dll files.
You shouldn't need the dll's, theoretically....what I meant was have you set-up for 16-bit, D3d display
inside the game's internal configuration program that you run before you run the game (
not talking about Windows compatibility options)...? You weren't real clear on that...so just checking...
If you are sure you've done that and you still can't get anywhere then you might try the dll's...can't hurt. You know, it really is true that with laptops everything is a toss-up bet because they often require custom drivers for GPUs that aren't available from the ATI or nVidia sites--among other hardware device drivers. If you check most any game forum you'll see that the vast majority of problems--some intractable, some not--come from laptop owners. In your case, not only are you on a laptop, but your OS is *old,* too, which complicates things when trying to find device drivers.
Best of luck, though! The game is charming, I think...! Definitely a slice of gaming history, imo...
Good luck...! Hope you can get it to run...:)
