I just finished watching this video; I'm still learning the game and on my first playthrough (currently level 7), but you can use the elevation tool in the middle of the compass to have area of effect spells target and detonate a place in the air.

When you select the spell (shatter as you used in the video), press that button in the middle of the compass and use the up arrow (or mouse wheel - seems mouse wheel down increase height) to change the elevation for a spell to some space off the ground. As long as the teal squares appear over the enemy (or under) I believe it will hit those targets. I posted an image for reference to show what I mean.

It seems a bit over powered that you can detonate a spell in mid air at precisely the right height, but I used a fireball spell with the elevation tool to wipe out flying enemies that were far off the ground.

On another note (referring to video 2), I did not know that detect magic would work on all party members...I used to drag all of the items I suspected were magical to my caster with detect magic and then use the spell, so that was handy to see a confirmation that this isn't necessary.

In addition, you love making consumables (nothing wrong with that!), but it feels like money is hard to come by and I want to put that aside for some of the special weapons you can craft (and some of the expensive items that can be bought). Some of the quest rewards will barely reward you enough to buy a single level 1 spell or a simple piece of armour, so it's difficult to watch all that gold being used to purchase Magnesium and that other plant I can't remember for making those potions :D

Not sure if I'm spoiling it for you, but you actually glide the camera over the location of the Handy Haversack (1:22:29 & 30 seconds) when you are about to leave the area...basically that first block you push and flies up (before the library) forms the bridge to the area with it.

Peter had some pretty poor luck with the dice rolls, and Kashina seems to be doing all the work in this video...

Also on getting that treasure chest using misty step, I think you can use the spider climb potion to get up the wall with your mage instead of jumping that gap, though that jump spell is free while the potion costs cash...so I guess I would of made the same call myself and just had a long rest to replenish my spells and then used jump.

It's annoying that you can't specify which spells to recover with Arcane Recovery; and so it defaults to recovering the largest spell first (and since Jump can't be boosted like other spells, tough luck using a higher slot to cast it)...almost makes it useless :(
appreciate very much, the comments.

I did not know about the elevation ability with AOE spells. That is only appropriate really, since a fireball could easily be cast to intercept an inbound flock of XXXXXX for example.

The Handy Haversack, I will have to look at the video again myself. lol I have had othrs tell me I bypassed it, as I say in this video, and I still couldnt see it. I ill look again.

TY again, for watching the vids, and for commenting. It is indeed, appreciated!

edit: TY for the time stamp citation re the Haversack. Loaded an autosave and looked again, and found where to climb up there and VIOLA! I will open Ep5 with a pair of shout-outs for this, and then back track to show others where it is and how to retrieve it. THANKS!!!

The default backpack seems to increase your carrying capacity to 1.2x while the Handy Haversack is 1.8x so that might explain why you didn't get the weight increase your expecting on your dwarf:
75 (default)
90 (basic backpack 75 * 1.2)
135 (Handy Haversack 75 * 1.8)
Your fast with adding and multiplying numbers (noticed this back when you were rolling your character stats initially)!

Also I'm becoming less of a fan of the random loot generation in this game...that cloak you got is amazing!; I have yet to see my first cloak in the game. I kind of prefer the fixed loot tables of classics like Baldur's Gate 2 where you know what you will get since with RNG it is possible that you don't get useful loot at all (I'm getting lots of primed 2-handed weapons and axes where I really want primed long bows and long swords (this weapon in particular is a problem since none of the factions sell primed long swords for crafting)).

[DELETED COMMENT]

Also that quest you got for your mage, I did not get that....I'm now starting to see that there seem to be quests based on your background selection; since my mage when with the Philosophy background, I didn't get anything related to my past until just recently where I was reunited with my old 'master'. That is kind of neat that there are additional quests based on the background you chose for your character.

What is this about rope? I wasn't even aware that there was rope in the game....

EDIT:
See if I can put in some spoiler tags for some of my comments...
And spoiler tags don't seem to work...I'll just delete part of this comment (I'm guessing the OP is the only one interested and they have already read it).

I have been advised that there is no rope to be purchased. Once you fly up to the tower, you have to drop rope down to your mates. Apparently, there is rope on the tower floor, once you fly up there.

Yes, there are quests which are entirely background determined. That is one of the things, along with the random loot, that extends replay ability.

I've been wondering in my own game about how to deal with the loot weight problem; and it looks like the scavengers will pick up all of the loot dropped at certain locations.

I tested this by dropping my two best swords at Caer Len while an expedition from the scavengers was in progress and sure enough at the end of that expedition they offered to return those two weapons to me or buy them at a fairly decent rate (still not quite as good as Gorim Ironsoot, but I have maximum reputation with that adventurer store).

Unfortunately I have no idea how to get the scavengers to start expeditions at request nor to tell them where to go (perhaps someone else on the forums might know), as I would love to just drop all of the gear on the ground and pick it up in town once the expedition had completed to sell and not deal with the weight management problems.

Also laughed at the cheek of Peter mocking Kashina for missing, good fun :D

always glad to hear/know folks are enjoying these.

My DnD days go WAY back to when AD&D was the then current ruleset. (pre 2E). XP in those days, was primarily achieved through gold vs killing. So we picked up EVERYTHING, weight be damned. lol I even had 2 carts and 2 horses to pull each, for my character! (1 cart for loot and 1 for the 4 dwarven guards who stood watch over it while we dungeon/cave dived) ....

I will most likely make use of the scavengers here at the Dark Castle setting. The weight is just too much to drag around.
