vulchor: It seems to me that Smugglers 5 is still early access, as there are text descriptions all over the game that say something like "description not finished yet - early access version" or some such. Your website says it is still Beta, which is the very definition of Early access. I wasn't aware of this when I purchased it. I don't care if you're indie or EA, making people pay for a beta is wrong. Call me old school, but that's the way I've always seen it.
The game is very good so far, mind you, but I haven't even been able to finish the tutorial yet because of bugs. I'm appalled that you've released an expansion pack before finishing the standard game. Seems like a money-grab to me.
nielsbauer: I don´t even know where to start.
*I try to breath slowly.*
The main game is finished. I am sorry that by adding new features constantly to the game you feel it is unfinished or a bug appears. This game has become quiet complex to modify. Maybe in the future I follow your advise and just don´t add any new free features ... wait ... some other people might have to say something against it.
List the bugs if you find any or stop complaining. I can play the game through including the tutorial without finding a single one. So I really like to know in order for me to fix it.
Yesterday I found that I missed some skill quotes of the new skills added with the combat system of the expansion. The expansion is still early access. It´s written everywhere. When adding it (AS A FREE BONUS) to the main game, I forgot to add the quotes. This doesn´t make the main game early access. It just makes me hesitate in the future of adding new things for free to a finished game.
There is no need to be petty. I'm completely new to this game. The messages that I've seen all over the game so far telling me that it was still in an early access state was where I got my misconception. If you feel the game is finished, than it's finished... nothing I can say otherwise about that. If that's the case, then I apologize and take back my comment about the expansion. I no longer feel that you shouldn't release an expansion if you consider the main game finished.
But also, since you are still selling your game, you should not take criticism from your customers personally or feel insulted. Instead, you should find out why your first-time customers would feel that the game is unfinished. In this case, I stated that the game itself had messages telling me that it was unfinished.
As for the bugs, I didn't know you'd take bug reports over the forum. The game keeps locking up on me when I get the part in the tutorial to save the game. I try to save, and the save window disappears and the game locks up. When I alt+tab, I see the save window again, but when I try to alt+tab back to it it disappears again. I am using the latest GOG version.
I have not tried the expansion anywhere, so I don't know if you are including that for free with the main game or not. As I said, this was my first experience with your game. I know that I'm soured by your attitude, however.
Edit: As a helpful suggestion, your website says the game is still in beta. Since your website is the first place a new customer will look to find more information about the game they just purchased, that they thought was finished, you should probably let them know that it is no longer in beta. I don't tend to pay money for betas, since I've been a beta tester for various types of software including games since the mid-nineties.
Also, until you cleared up my misunderstanding, I read no where in the release notes for the patches that the new features that were being added were "early-access" (read alpha/beta) features from the expansion. So how were any of us supposed to know this?
