Why decide to join games in development on GOG?
Slime Rancher has been in development for almost two years and is now at a point where it would greatly benefit from the feedback of a larger audience.
We're keen to see players explore and tackle challenges in ways we didn't expect. In the limited time Slime Rancher's pre-alpha was made available, players created hundreds of Youtube videos, and watching them has proved invaluable in learning more about our own game.
Games in development give us the opportunity to see what players are most excited about before final release, and still have the flexibility to reshape our development if necessary. It all adds up to making Slime Rancher the best darn game it can be!
Approximately how long will Slime Rancher be in early access?
We currently anticipate Slime Rancher to leave early access in the Fall of 2016. However, game development is always unpredictable and this timeframe is subject to change.
What do you plan to change during development?
The final version of Slime Rancher will include more environments to explore within the Far, Far Range, more slime types to ranch, and more resources to collect and grow. There are also a couple more ranch expansions planned as well as some new features that are designed to further enrich the existing core gameplay loop.
Players will also get a window into Beatrix's personal story and learn a bit more about some of the other ranchers out on the range.
We also plan on adding features such as achievements, as well as support additional languages.
Lastly there are a few features on the drawing board geared toward more challenging, higher level play. What? What about vampiric chickens?
What is the current state of Slime Rancher?
The current version of Slime Rancher is a very playable experience that showcases many of the features of the final version. Players have many areas to explore, multiple slime types and resources to collect, personal upgrades for their trusty vacpack, and many completely functional aspects of their ranch to build and upgrade.
In short, the current version gives players a visually rich, fun-to-play slice of the final game.
Will the price change on release day?
Slime Rancher's current base price will not increase after leaving early access.
How can the community participate in the development process?
We have a very active official forum (forums.monomipark.com) where we collect community feedback and participate in the discussion about Slime Rancher.
Additionally Slime Rancher supports a bug reporting system in game that has led to our chomping through scores of bugs. Our current pre-alpha players have really helped make Slime Rancher a much better experience, and we look forward to seeing more of it.
