I've noticed some levels in Slave Zero have major slow-down issues, such as the "Sewer War" level. Is there any way to fix this? I'm running Windows 7 on a quad-core.
I'm on the Escort Run C Boss in the sewers, and the slow down is so bad it's virtually impossible to beat the boss. Is there any way to fix the slow down issues?

Try setting the game's affinity to one core and see where that gets you :)

Is there a way I can do that with a shortcut to the .exe file?

Try this:

http://betanews.com/2011/03/07/tip-use-runwithaffinity-to-restrict-apps-to-specific-cpu-cores/

especially this section:

"If you're familiar with the command line then you'll probably know that Windows has a built-in tool to set the affinity of a process already. Essentially you'd create a shortcut to run a command line, something like "c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 notepad.exe," where the number following "/affinity" tells Windows which core you'd like to use."

I tried creating a shortcut to SlaveZero.exe and I put this in the Target area:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 SlaveZero.exe

Unfortunately that didn't seem to help the issue. Did I enter something incorrectly?

I am not really sure, I figured that article would have its information right...

Tried setting the game's compatibility to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3?

I tried setting compatibility mode to WinXP, but that prevented Slave Zero from starting. -_-

At this point I'll recommend writing to Support and maybe saving a save where these issues happen because I have no idea on how to proceed :/

Since Slave Zero uses nGlide, is there a way I can set it to run in a window? Right now it just always defaults to full screen. I wonder if running it in a window would help solve the problem.
Well I finally beat the sewer boss (Sanguinar). That fight was ridiculously difficult! I think the sewer levels might have some kind of memory leak problem. When I had to re-fight that boss over and over the game got slower and slower. Restarting the whole game seemed to help the problem a little bit.

If anyone else is having trouble fighting this boss, I've found out that you absolutely must have the Valhalla missile gun or you'll never beat the boss in time! It's located in the Escort Run B level. Be sure to set the weapon options to "Upgrade Only."

Yeah, have the exact same problem in the sewer levels. And believe it or not, this pisses me off to no end because I am doing a kinda-no-save run on hard mode where I only save during the beginning to a level. Now I find out that I have to save during the boss due to lagtacular gameplay.
I discovered my fix, you guys!
So, it turns out that just saving the game, quitting, and then loading up a save got rid of my graphic lag problem. Simple yet helpful. I doubt that this fix works for everyone, but we will have to wait and see.
Hey guys, I also have this issue, how ever it seems to be caused by saving/loading a save. I know that sound wired but I only notice it after i have to reload a save or after I make a save. Does anyone else notice this? I have also noticed that after heave use of the save/load features the game starts to break (falling through the world/platforms etc.).

Like Robomorons said exiting the game does fix everything, however this isn't really an ideal solution.

EDIT: also as a side note GOG's version of Slave Zero seems to already set the Core affinity to one core.

I experienced serious frame rate issues with Windows 7 x64. The solution was to download the latest version of nGlide (it's 2.10 as of July 2019), install it on my system, then copy and replace the newer nGlide files with the ones found in the Slave Zero directory.

I know it's an old thread but maybe it helps, too.
