Hello, i am interested in an downgrade too. My Friend got the Steam-Version 1.82. To play the StarTrek-Mod/Multiplayer there are no options atm.
It may an better way to tell him he should ask for an update, but here i am atm x) Is there already an solution, maybe? Thx.

One of the devs said that once both Steam and GOG get updated to the same version, everything will work. He can opt in to the 1.83 beta but that recently got updated on steam, so I'm not sure if that works any more as the steam beta version is now more recent than the GOG version.

Yeah, the GOG and Steam 1.83 versions have been out of sync for weeks now. Someone mentioned they could get it to work by manually moving files from the GOG install to the Steam install, but otherwise they don't play together currently.

Yes this works. If both Players have the 1.83 Patch installed they can see each other online but can't join each others games as "the executables are different". If you give the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion.exe (~6MB) from the GoG version to the steam user everything works fine. Probably also the other way round. Make a backup of the original file though.
