tfishell: Is there any way to sticky this info, or do you think that's not necessary? :)

Thiev: In GOG build it's done by default. :) As for blinking / Alt-Tab, I notified Support guys about that before release - I'll ping them again and hopefully they'll add the info to the support notes.
Solid, thanks! And thanks to you and all the other support people and testers. Love to see GOG constantly improving their support of classics and adding new bonus material, expansions, etc. to good old games. :)

(It's too bad making old-school DirectX titles [or games that can't use DOSBox, nGlide, etc.] more compatible with modern machines seems to be so tough, though; it'd be nice to see Populous 3 receive a patch similar to Dungeon Keeper 2's, although I know that would take a LOT of time and effort.)
Hi, i tried with the changing of this topic but still have this grafics problems :( Any sugestions?

Is it Intel card?

Yes, but i have also an nvdia gpu on this laptop :) i selected the GPU for SimCity :)

Hm... the only thing that comes to mind is to reinstall it, and maybe update your drivers.

Won't do much good, I'm afraid ;) Integrated Intel chipsets won't work properly in hardware mode. Software should run without problems though.

This info should have been added to the requirements :|. I'll see it corrected at Monday.

Driver updated of both gpu (nvida and intel) but nothing is changed :( tried with software mode options but, for example, the cars desapperead :\

Now wait a minute, do you mean that there are no cars? Or do you mean they keep disappearing and reappearing?

I ask because I think that's normal for cars to randomly disappear then reappear.

Now if the cars are gone completely, I would make sure that all of the graphics settings are on highest setting.

I know that when you switch back and forth between software and hardware mode the settings reset to defaults.

raffopazzo probably has a problem with having Intel+nVidia.

sylvain-p recommended using -d:OpenGL when running the game, to use OpenGL rendering instead of DirectX or Software: http://www.gog.com/forum/simcity_series/simcity_4_tips_for_running_on_modern_windows

I have an i5 (HD 4000 latest drivers installed, no nVidia GPU) and all I needed to do to get the game working properly was just that. Not a problem in sight and I can run in custom 1920x1080 and full details, with no lagging/stuttering.

Maybe you should include another shortcut in the install to run with OpenGL (since it cannot be chosen in-game).

I initially decided against adding OpenGL shortcut due to its instability - but maybe we'll add it to the next build.
Meanwhile I'll notify Support about this potential workaround for Intel cards. Thanks.
As far as the community was aware, there was no option to use the OpenGL renderer because Maxis didn't finish it in time for the Windows release of the game and wasn't improved upon in any of the patches.

I would not recommend using the OpenGL mode in any capacity. In addition, compatibility with mods is completely unknown.

If you're having performance issues, the very first thing you should do is turn shadows off. Consensus seems to be it generates them using a method that's not hardware accelerated on modern graphics cards. Everything else can be maximised.

Turning everything off or down (and I do mean everything) did nothing for me, DirectX and Software rendering was completely broken (artifacts, missing graphics, blinking, stuttering, etc.). OpenGL solved everything and I have been playing without issues. If there is a problem with mods (really don't know why it should) or if any severe issues while using OpenGL are known, this is a good time to come forward and show them.
Mostly because it has a tendency to work like in the attachment.

That, and it has all the same graphical bugs that the MacOS version has/had.

If it works for you, you're literally the first person I know of, in four years of being in the SimCity community, that hasn't had it utterly crash and burn.
