There is a problem with enemy AI in Great Library. After rescuing the old man I go to the room upstairs. There is a golg imp escaping and summoning some help. I kill about 6 red imps and nothing happens - all enters are closed. It seems there are more imps I must kill, but they are just not coming!

Help please.

I assume you are in the beginning with grandfather and you have just rescued that professor. Have you also talked with him?
You will encounter him twice. First in the beginning of the library and afterwards in a room filled with books.
And be sure to kill all imps. Sometimes you have to move the pointer a bit.

The problem can be solved by turning V-Sync to ON in your NVidia 3D control panel.
