I just bought these games in the sale and tried starting them up. They seem to run just fine but start in 800x600 res. When I try to change the resolution to a higher setting my screen goes black and nothing happens.

When I press Strg+Alt+Del and start the task manager I can get back to the desktop and maximize the game again where the resolution has reset to 800x600.

Any ideas how I can get the game to accept the higher res? Is there a way to set it from outside the game? The config.cfg doesn't seem to have an resolution entry unfortunately.

My config:
Intel i2500k
8 GB Ram
Radeon 7970 with Cat 13.5
Windows 7 Pro 64bit

What resolution have you been trying to select? I'm running the game in 1280x1024 just fine.

in .\cfg\config.cfg there's an entry (you can add it, if it wasn't generated yet) :

setvar gfx_resolution = 1280.00

replace 1280 with width of your choice
In Sentinels it is similar, but the game supports widescreen and you can write complete resolution in s3config.cfg:

setvar gfx_resolution = 1920x1080

again, replace values with your own

Thank you Thiev that works :)

Now I just have to fiddle around with the other config options because the black screen stuff happens every time I try to change any graphics option in the ingame menu and it starts up with low detail settings.
