After many other scans suddenly tonight Avast has decided to flag the gdpfile.dll in the Silent Storm folder.

I wrongly maybe(?) let it do it's thing and now I the program will not run without it. Also upon trying to re-install SS I am greeted with a warning and Avast apparantly will not let that file be installed. So it still won't run after re-install.

Anyone seen this before?

False Positive perhaps?

Anyone know how I get this running again?

Not a happy camper atm.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!
Have you tried adding the file to Avast as an exception?
Or maybe your antivirus has the file listed as a known threat so try deleting or resetting it's history or settings. You could also try re-installing Avast completely including all the settings so that it doesn't list the file as a threat.

Thought I tried that last night (exception) but it didn't seem to take for some reason. I see now that there is a way to manually enter the file path in Avast so I may try that.

Better question is has anyone else seen this flagged??

No mods or extra files involved just straight from GOG. I would of course like to know if this is actually something I should be concerned with.

I just went to the Avast forums to look for an answer and/or post a question and.... The forum is SHUT DOWN (?) due to an attack! WTH? Doesn't inspire confidence, but I guess it can happen to anyone...

Thanks.
Tried that, it had been submitted a very short time ago and many other times. Results were non-conclusive I guess you would say. No bad votes, no good votes....
Further Google digging turns up many threads about the dll itself but not necessarily the one in Silent Storm.
Strange to say the least.
Mbam doesn't flag it, SuperAntiSpyware doesn't flag it so hmmm.
I set an exception for it and the game works again, so that's good.
Strange.
