A strange problem I've encountered whilst playing the game...

I always usually have 'number lock' applied on my keyboard (desktop PC) and for some reason whilst playing Pirate, it automatically disables itself, which for me, renders the game unplayable.

Anyone have the same experience, or know of a solution?

Cheers!

Sometimes, before starting the game and you have the num lock on, when you go into the game afterwards, it seems to be on, but for some reason, no longer works. Try pressing it manually once, while IN GAME. I have that, but by pressing it myself it works normally again. Even though it seems to be off, the game recognizes it as being on, lol!
Thanks KiNgBrAdLeY7.

In the end, I discovered that too by accidentally pressing one of the number keys mid-game. Number Lock active when launching, but the light on the keyboard showing it as 'off' after the game launched.

A strange little quirk, but when I first launched the game after downloading and even with Number Lock active before loading, once in-game the number keys didn't work. However, they randomly began to work in-game a couple of launches later, so all seems fine now, even though the Number Lock key isn't lit when playing.
You play as a Spanish privateer, i guess? :)

English primarily, my actual nationality IRL.

Hard to do sometimes, but I try to become 'Duke' in all four nations.

There's still some modding sites knocking around for this game, with some useful tips on ways to change the art on sails and flags, so there'll be a GCF badge on my mainsails soon enough ;)

Not hard at all! Begin by fighting all 9 big pirates in a row and talk to the closest cities near their base. Every nation is super happy and spam you with promotions! Also, kill off Indian war canoes and pirate vessels (in golden age of piracy sea is full of them and they are swarming), use settlements for new governor and/or sugar cane mission, use Jesuits for immigrant mission (and outrun enemies unless they are pirates) and there you go, you make someone happy WITHOUT anyone else getting angry! Easiest thing is to go duke on every nation in this game!
