I just installed the game. Checking out functionality with the skill practices, I'm seeing a time issue. In cryptography, the clock is running through a minute in about ten actual seconds. In elecronics/circuits, during the ten minute count-down, a minute of game clock equals about 40 seconds of real time. Is anyone else experiencing anything liek this?

Update: Been trying some different graphic modes, but no luck with a remedy yet. Does anyone else notice timing irreglarity?

This is right. It assumes that all the mini-games take at least a couple hours of game time, possibly more, to complete. And so time is accelerated. If you had a literal hour to do cryptography, then every cryptography would only take exactly one game hour. You don't need to worry too much, just understand that any one action is likely to take several game hours.
The speed is also tied to Dosbox's emulated cpu clock speed, which can be adjusted with CTRL+F11 and CTRL+F12. I think the default is how it's supposed to run though.

Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I played it a fair amount years ago, in fact stil have my original game manual, but I just for the life of me couldn't remember if that game timer was normal or not.

And thank you for your answer as well! Very appreciated.

There's supposed to be timing irregularity between crypto and electronics, that's not a game issue. Electronics is you on the field, fiddling with a junction box while the guard's off-duty/shift changing/on another part of his patrol, crypto is you in a CIA safehouse poring over a decoded message. The former will take less time than the latter (in minigame time...I think the act of wiretapping still takes a few hours).

Whether those times are slightly fast or not, I dunno. I think the electronics minigame is supposed to line up with real time, but I could be wrong. Would need someone with experience with the original to confirm that one.

I have found, since my original posting, that the in-game time does not hinder enjoyment of the game at all. I'm beginning to believe that it wasn't tied to an actual clock at all.
