I have not played for some time, but I was surprised today that this game Still Crashes when a player moves a unit to the Top or Bottom Edge of the map...
That used to annoy me years back, sad to see it is still an issue...

I guess you play the Windows build of the game?

I never got such crashes with the native Linux build of Alpha Centauri.

I have an unreasonable workaround to suggest, if setting the directdraw flag in the ini didn't work.

Some mad person is attempting to port SMAC to more modern things.
