Any ideas?

Startup app error msg: The instruction at 0x10020940 referenced memory at 0x10020940. The memory coulld not be read.

The above msg is with game's factory settings. I've attempted to run the game in a variety of compatability modes with similar messages. Avtivirus is off.

System specs:\
WinXP
SP2
Pentuium 4 1.9GHx
1GB Ram

App Error slightly different with other compatability settings. Any thoughts? Will provide further details including screencaps if it helps.

Thanks!

Both Client & Server in compatability mode. Graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 3 Ti200. In settings...? Settings where? I cannot open a settings mode via the game. Should I do this via one of the games configuration files?

The other Monolith Game, Septerra Core did not work via the GOG factory settings for me, in fact I had to set compatibility mode to NT4/SP5 for normal gameplay. Unfortunately, the same trick has not worked with Shogo.

I will browse the config files, but so far, nothing stands out. Thanks for responding and if you've further suggestions, I look forward to reading them:-)

WinNT would only work with DirectX 5 games- Don't use that setting for shogo my friend!
For client /server /exe. use win95 compatibility with advanced text services and visual themes disabled.

Click the exe to launch shogo, the front loader should appear. The 5th button down should be advanced, click it.

On the left there is a list of items to disable, turn off directX6 commands and joysticks. On the right several graphics options are available, enable them all.

Cannot even launch the front loader: anyone know of the correct .cfg file to tinker with?
that doesn't sound like a config issue. It sounds like a corrupt file.

Will go for a 3rd download... wish me luck!

3rd time... no luck. Antivirus off too; I know the routine. I've uploaded an image of the error message if it is helpful (to anyone) in figuring this one out.

Wow, after just a few minutes of research it looks as though you have a serious issue. Googling that error produced a number of hits that were all over the place as to the cause, everything from a bad registry entries to corrupted antivirus damage. I won't advise you on this as tinkering with the windows registry goes far beyond my computer skills. I will show you a link that discusses the issue with a number of solutions, i wont link to it but if your willing to cut and paste....

just leave the @@ out of the string. It's a wik-errors article. I personally would go the non technical route and use the windowsxp restore tool. They have a error repair tool if you want to go that way. You might want to get a new antivirus too, seeing as that is often involved with this issue.

had to break the string to keep it from linking.
Hmmm I guess Gog really really wants to link stuff tonight
