My copy of shogo works fine so far, except for the fact that music does not play ingame.

Having played the CD version of the original I know for example which sections the track "Informant" is supposed to play, it does not do so in these locations.

Has anyone had this issue/gotten it to work?

Try Windows 95 compatibility mode. For some odd reason, this fixed the music for me.

This may be months later but your solution did the trick :)

The game runs perfectly now. Running around in dead silence was really eerie.
Glad to be of help.
Helped me as well! Thanks!

To fix the music in Windows XP and beyond without compatability mode all you need to do is this:

1: Open AM18.DLL with a hex editor (Frhed and HXD are good free hex editors to use)
2: Find the text "dslite.dll" (when you find dslite.dll there should also be a dsound.dll somewhere nearby)
3: Replace the "slite" with "sound" so it reads exactly like this: "dsound.dll"
(when you complete this step you should be seeing two dsound.dll entries around that area of the file)

IMPORTANT: Be sure you are OVERWRITING the characters "slite" as in insert mode, you cannot add or change any of the number of bytes in the file, you must only replace the "dslite.dll" with "dsound.dll", your file size of the .DLL should remain the same!!! (81,920 bytes)

Doing that brought back memories of hex editing Bards Tale in dos heh. But needless to say, that worked in getting the music to play during the stages. My computer refused to work with win95 compatibility.

Oh wow, I finally get to hear the music for the credits, haha. Previously I had to choose between good graphics and music (darn win10!), but now I don't have to choose one over the other! Thanks!

Just yesterday I have discovered that there was music during the stages, because I didn't bother about them in the first 2 missions, actually! But I've found strange not having any music after the first mission, them searched the internet and thanks to you the game is a bit more enjoyable now!
It worked perfectly!
Thank you for the help!
Oh man. Thank you so much KynikosDragonn!
I was actually googling to find a fix to a different issue I was having, and stumbled upon this thread. I never even realized the missions were supposed to have music!
(Because the music in the main menu was working just fine.)

Sorry for waking this up from the dead. The issue seems to be the same as the one with Blood 2. I stumbled on this blogspot link that fixes the music for Blood 2 and Shogo.

Or you can download this file and override the original one. Then you don't need to hex around :)
