squid830: This is good news. Although I'd like it free since I pre-ordered, I'd probably still plonk down more cash for it.
While the game is definitely "finished" at the end of the current Hong Kong campaign, you do end up with a chunk of change, so good to see we'll be able to use it for something.
Cadaver747: I don't even want to think of paying any more money for 4 hours long campaign DLC which was already funded through Kickstarter.
Ending of HK campaign as well as a whole game itself is absolutely atrocious in a very bad possible way. And this super option to *negotiate* with the last boss, oh come on, who in his right mind would do that??? I mean even if you're playing extremely cruel and aggressive character nothing can justify even the thought of wanting to have an *audience*, it's preposterous!!!
Awful-awful game with boring characters and ton of typos and and (too many double "and"s), and a cliffhanger ending.
I don't f@cking understand why in the hell I couldn't get money to better staff my team, I did each and every mission objects on next to last mission and receive my reward... wait for it... before game ending credits! Oh thanks so f@cking much I really needed those 5k to buy another drone or at least a good DMG+20 sniper rifle for Duncan.
They are just stupid!!! Jordan Weisman you should be ashamed of it (actually I haven't seen your name in credits)!
After so goodly done Returns and Dragonfall this is a total disaster!
I have to agree with you on the amount of cash you get - it's pathetic. In DF you had enough cash to easily donate to Samuel and/or hire the occasional freelancer if you really wanted to. In HK there's no point in even showing us the option to hire them, since they all cost 450 (!!) and you barely have enough cash for yourself.
And the 5K would have made much more sense BEFORE the final battle, and not after.
Apart from that I wouldn't call the game "atrotious", although the staggering amount of grammar/typos did get grating after a while. Also I magically lost the laser sniper rifle after lending it to Duncan which kind of sucked - would have thought that kind of bug would be fixed by now since they had similar issues with DF originally.
I have no problem with the negotiation at the end, since it's a Yama King and that's their weakness. They're magical and bound by certain laws. Plus, 14 years of good luck - if you're kind of evil that option makes sense IMO.
I didn't mind the main characters (your runners, Bao, Kindly), plus Ambrose was kind of cool. Though Gobbet got kind of annoying I have to say. Didn't mind Law too much either since he doesn't babble on - unlike the damn Ka Fais who drove me nuts. Didn't really care what Shen had to say either. The game could have done with less dialog in the hub area - a lot less.
There seems to be a big section missing though - the part where Is0bel just happens to know someone who has something that can stop mind-wipes and she happens to know where she lives in meat space, despite the fact that she's supposed to be extremely elusive and has many parties after her. Blitz took forever to even get in contact with her, never mind actually tracking her down, and now she's on the run (even more so), and so she tells someone she hardly knows where she lives and most of her life story? That was a bit far-fetched.
So yeah, while the DF characters were definitely more interesting overall, and the spelling/grammar wasn't even spell-checked, and the new matrix has shitty mechanics and the new spirit control system is lame - I'd still consider this a good game. Not up to the par of DF (at all), but still better than the original SRR. And the new drones, spells, unique weapons and cyber etc. are pretty cool. It does need a fair bit more polish though.
