Shadowrun Returns hits GOG's shelves finally. This is great news, but where is the native linux port?
SRR runs great on linux. Especially this game would have been an excellent opportunity for a linux release on GOG. Don't get me wrong on that, I love GOG and its drm-free philosophy. There are plenty of native linux versions now, e.g. Legend of Grimrock, The Bard's Tale and many more. They run on linux without any problem. Not to mention the titles using dosbox and scummvm.
It's hard for me to admit: As long as there are no linux games on GOG, I won't buy anything from you.
Hopefully, there will be a Humble Bundle containing Shadowrun Returns someday.

More and more games are released with great linux versions. So it is really time that GOG supports Linux or that the Linux versions are included as bonus content!

Just add them as bonus without support and I'm happy!

The steam version is currently available for windows and mac. Steam owners have access to a beta version of a native linux version of this game, although I am told it crashes often, something that the windows version does not do.

Since October 30, it's Linux Time! Since then, there's an officially supported native linux version available via steam and via HBS. So there's neither magic nor hacking needed. GOG could simply sell SRR for linux, if they wanted to. Sorry, you should consider other sources. Yours are wrong about SRR on linux. At least they seem to be a bit outdated. SRR was developed platform independent with Unity. The linux version runs as stable as the windows version does. My crash counter shows zero crashes on linux.

That was the beta announcement I was referring to. Don't talk down to me, please.
While no magic or hacking is needed, an installer needs to be prepared and who knows what kind of convoluted process it is to coordinate between the two companies.
They haven't packaged the beta version for gog consumption yet either.

PS. Please note that I am not actually saying you should buy it now and expect to get linux version. By all means you should wait until a linux release is available. I am saying that it is PROBABLY going to be released soon (although it is possible that they never will due to some odd reason or another)

This also explains My brain glitched there and I read this as harebrain could sell SRR for linux through GOG if they wanted to.

Although if it is a matter of GOG policy then this is not the appropriate forum to post this in. As it has nothing to do with SRR and is an issue of GOG itself. This should go in the GOG general discussion.

There are plenty of topics in individual forums about how to make various GOG releases work on Linux and various workarounds for Linux related problems and there's at least one major one general discussion but GOG itself does not provide installers nor support for linux. You must've mistaken it for Mac support GOG has had for about a year now and already includes large portion of GOG catalog. It pretty much boils down to the cost of providing GOG level support for all games on all supported platforms (GOG staff tests and provides support for all of it's games and has even fixed quite number of them). GOG staff has looked into it and concluded that it was not financially viable, at least for now. There are also number of technical issues they need to deal with.

You should direct Linux related discussion to appropriate topic in general discussion. you can read what GOG staff has stated so far. And finally you can [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/add_linux_versions_of_games]vote for linux support on community wishlist.

Oh and may I also point out that as Linux version of SRR is currently in beta on steam, it would not be released on GOG until official release anyway as GOG does not support beta's either. (GOG is planning something big for next year and early/alpha/beta access may well be what they're planning. You can find my quote of GOG.com part of CD Projekt Group 3rd quarter fiscal report here.)

HBS announced today that they will be selling DRM free version for linux on the humble store.
While windows and Mac DRM free will be sold through GOG

I bought my copy yesterday through the Humble Store, it's a shame that GOG continues to not offer a Linux option. I'll buy games here, but only ones that don't have Linux support from the developer.
