alcaray: And jeez, @v-serp, where did you get the crazy idea that most complaints are because of overclocking???
It's pretty well known in the industry. Most people simply do not have stable overclocks, but they are convinced they do. That is why it's generally suggested to cancel your overclocks and play games without them. If the crashes stop, you know it was a bad overclock. If they still persist, then you can point to the game (or usually it's actually a Windows issue too). Most times the issues stop though without the overclock.

Anyway, I've had really no issues with the game, so it's not my problem. Yes it's buggy, but it's definitely playable, and for the most part the bugs you do run into are not game breaking.

I just don't get why people are so impatient and get so angry. Is patience a lost virtue these days?
Yes, you can mess yourself up if you overclock, but most people do not overclock. If you look at the vanilla (the check-all-this-stuff-and-come-back-if-you-still-have-a-problem list) stuff the support guys ask you will find that graphics drivers are at or close to the top and that overclocking is no where to be found. That's because most people don't know what overclocking is and they would have to answer too many questions about it.
In case of SR:HK we don't deal with crashes but with logic problems. Overclocking causes system wide crashes, it's extremely rare to cause problems with logic. The game's bugs are well documented and approved and patched by devs, there's no plague of overclock problems.
BTW it's already a week of delay for the 3.0.6 patch in comparison to Steam...

rutra80: 24/7 is not a problem at all - there are shifts and a lot of computer nerds love to be awake at night and sleep the day, especially that it's often better paid. It's not a labor camp really.
I see you’re already in Poland, why aren’t you working for GOG during your nights?
If it’s so nice to work during nights & week-end, you should be happy at this perspective…

Oh, unless you think it’s nice to see *other people* work at night, but *you* shouldn’t have to do it?

v-serp: You should bitch at the devs for not having completely games in the first place. A game should not need a patch so soon after release. And if it does, they need to put it up themselves. It used to be they'd have it on their own websites.
^^^ THIS.

I remember a simpler time, way back when, when not only were patches rare, but when they WERE required, the developers would put them up on their own website and people could grab them at their leisure.

The only reason we have all this waiting around is because now everything goes through a third party, so there are all these processes and procedures and other crap in the way.

While I don't ever want GOG to automatically update games for me, I don't see a reason why devs shouldn't be allowed to push patches to GOG. They can appear as "untested" or something and we the gamer could decide whether we want to risk installing it or not.

WTF is wrong with you GOG???? It's been almost 2 weeks since the latest patch was out on Steam.

You're doing a great job of driving people away from your platform if you keep this up!

Acording to Steam it came out 3.Sep at 1am European time. Till now this is just a bit more than one, not nearly two weeks ;) ... bit yes, I agree, its a bit too long, but we don`t know when other publishers than Steam get/got the patch. Probably this will be way later.

Apparently we have it now!!

Unfortunately it's a complete download again (but apparently Steam users also had to DL the whole thing again, so it's not just a GOG thing). It's pretty well-compressed so I'm not complaining too much.

Still, a week's delay is still... a week's delay. I hope GOG improves soon, if for no other reason than to stop people moving (back to) competitors...

I wonder if we can just download the smaller .exe. Do we have to erase the old game too? I wonder. I guess I might as well start downloading.

Pretty sure you need both the .exe and the .bin. Seems to be the way they do GOG installers at the moment.

I'd love this option too. But I guess it would be a "manual install" patch - loose files to manually "copy over", since it would bypass the whole GOG process - installer packing included. Not that I would balk at it - but I'm sure a minority of users would actually go through with that, and there WILL be people who F*** the process up and then proceed to blame GOG or the devs for it.

They could put a "WARNING, UNTESTED PATCH, ADVANCED USERS ONLY" popup or something, but there WILL be someone complaining because the "untested patch" broke his/her game.

We should take this to the community suggestions though. If it gets enough votes, we might actually see it implemented.
lol the actual small patch popped up now. Oh well, it doesn't matter too much.

I wound up installing to my SSD anyway. Probably makes virtually no difference for a game like this however.

Yep just noticed it now - naturally well AFTER I'd already downloaded the new full version (which took forever to install as well).

I'm glad that there's the option of a patch and a full version, though it's a bit strange for the small patch to go up AFTER the massive new installer. I guess the small patch required a bit of work to create, whereas the full version was probably just the publisher's latest files wrapped in a GOG installer?

I believe this request here is pretty much what we're asking for: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/implement_automatic_patchbuild_deployment_for_developerspublishers

NEEDS VOTES!

Sure if I wasn't "married, with children" I would gladly work nights. Also it doesn't take a genius to solve your socialist problem by simply hiring someone on the other side of the globe.

Problem of bad updates is already solved by GOG Galaxy which has an option of manual updates with rollbacks.

What makes you think GOG employees aren't married with children themselves?

Get over yourself. Go spend time with your family instead of ignoring them to obsess over a computer game getting patched a few days earlier.
