When I try, I get this message "This patch does not support your version of the game please download a new installer". I reinstalled the game, no change. I download the installer again, no change. Does anyone knows how can I solve this?

If you have downloaded the latest version, you don't need to patch.

Even if the message is not the standard "Update already applied"?

Am confused... how do I check what version of Dragonfall that I have on this machine? The GoG installer says 2.09 and the patch file has 2.1.1.8.

edit: seems the last version IS 2.0.9

Sorry I have to ask, but I just downloaded this game (Shadowrun Returns) a couple of weeks ago and I get the same error when I try to install Dragonfall (download the latest patch). I do have the lastest patch (I downloaded the lastest version of the game).

What can I do to install Dragonfall? Thanks.
Why is this topic marked solved?
I'm having the same problem, there is only one version of the base game available to download and when I try to install the Dragonfall DLC I get the error message; "This version of the base game is not supported. Please update your game with the lastest patch."

Dragonfall DLC? What do you mean? Are you trying to update the base game to the Director's Cut?

Dragonfall is a separate game to the original Returns (version 1.2.7), which requires a separate engine (version 2, currently at release 2.0.9) to run.
There are also two different versions (the expanded Director's Cut allows for an evil ending, among other things.)

It is possible to port the original game (properly the game is called Dead Man Switch) into the second engine, but not Dragonfall into the first engine (things added to the second engine will break in the first engine).

Additionally, a couple of intrepid souls have ported / updated the original game into the third engine DMS Vox Populi.

:)

Dragonfall Director's cut is a standalone game NOW, but it was originally released as DLC for shadowrun returns back in 2014 which is when I bought it.
And the DLC is currently incompatible with the version of shadowrun returns currently available to download from my account.

What version of the engine was current when you gained access to download Dragonfall?
There matrix is completely incompatible with the earlier engine (though I quite like the earliest aesthetic of the proscenium, especially the drone interface buttons, not so much the combat and magic popups).
What you're seeking is an upgrade to the first engine to play the second game!

I don't know remember which engine was current when I bought it, it was almost 5 years ago...

Though you seem to have trouble believeing that I bought the DLC version since you're refering to it as "the second game".
Dragonfall was originally released as DLC for shadowrun returns in February of 2014, it was released as a standalone version later the same year but it wasn't like those of us who bought the DLC version got access to the standalone version automatically. Please see the attachment for what it looks like when I try to download it.

I wasn't impugning your credibility, merely curious. :)
It seems you have been abandoned by the Harebrained Schemers (!).

For sure, there is no way that the current version of the game (supplied with its engine 2) would ever work on the first engine; the matrix, for example, has a quantified alert (i.e., the red alert has a discrete number, out of a total alert level, unlike the similar but distinctly lacking alerts of the first engine, whereby no numbers are displayed).

I suppose you would be stuck at the pre-Director's version (where they added the alternate ending, etc.), yes?

Whatever the cause, I wonder if there are many others in your predicament? I am not a big fan of evil playthroughs (tend to be chaotic-stupid or straw-evil, kick-the-dog type interactions, which I don't find very entertaining), so I haven't even seen the alternate ending, but there are ongoing updates (still?) to the overall presentation of the game, too, that you must have missed out on.

What is the attitude of Gog support? I would have thought the easiest fix would be to grant you the second game. But, there seems to have been a lot of complexity around this IP, since there have been numerous versions (developer-distributor legal demarcation disputes and similar, it seems). Perhaps they have a discounted upgrade path for you, since yours is a peculiar predicament, for sure.

To answer your question; I have contacted GoG support and they were quite helpful and I now have the Standalone version in my library, though it seems they have no intention of providing an earlier version that is compatible with the DLC.

I also found another post related to this subject, on the forum.

Thanks for the link. :)

You have the second engine version of the second game, yes?

I would expect that the reason you have not received the earlier version is that it is no longer supported as there is a later version (and the earlier DLC for engine one is no longer supported since it is available with its own new engine).

I'm curious, are you saying the registry update (in the linked discussion) did not let you play the DLC in the first engine? Or am I misunderstanding your complaint? (This is getting confusing!)
