What do we think?
They were dropping hints on Twitter but I thought it was just for the Shadow Warrior release on Steam. So it's actually going to be a whole new game redone, possibly like how Rise of the Triad is being remade? That would be very awesome!

Looks very promising, especially because it's going to be remade by creators of Hard Reset. ;-)
Pretty excited about it. I think Flying Wild Hog studios is one of the best picks for this reboot. And seeing all the info they've talked about, seems like they're going in the right direction.
From what i've read about its a reboot/prequel

suppose to be Lo Wang before the 97 game.
"Flying Wild Hog is going to try and steer clear of the stereotypes"
I think this won't be Shadow Warrior then.

That's kind of my thoughts on it as well, but at this point, I have more hope for this reboot than I do about the Thief reboot.

Yeah, I agree. The new "Shadow Warrior" will be an interesting FPS, nevertheless. On the other hand, the new Thief seems like it is going to lose all its identity.
FWH and Revolver? Fuck yes.
I don't know if you guys heard but Shadow Warrior is now FREEWARE!
So yes Digital Devolver and The Flying Hog (whom own the rights now) have released it completely free via Steam
I haven't brought this up for anyone to be mad about buying a copy I was just thinking that maybe our money could have gone to help make the new Shadow Warrior

I don't think its exactly and entirely 'freeware', as you can't just go about getting a copy and just handing it out to others. It may only be free for a limited time or free indefinitely (always the possibility it could be pulled from steam at some point like other games). There is plans apparently for a + version that will offer better compatibility on modern machines with a new engine upgrade.

The steam version is still controlled behind DRM technically.

There is more discussion here;

However, it should be noted that its not the first time games have been handed out for free as a promotion for a later game. I recall Betrayal of Krondor being downloadable as a freebie on Sierra's website years ago. But due to fine print, you couldn't just give the copy to others or upload it on other sites for others to download. So if one counted it as 'freeware' it was a kind of 'limited freeware'.

Actually it would be interesting seeing Shadow Warrior without stereotypes, I mean originally the game was supposed to be pretty serious early in development. Personally I am anxious for this reboot, especially since it is being worked on by a team that will have an understanding of what made Shadow Warrior fun in the first place.

I disagree, because in spite of being a great FPS and very fun to play, the main reason we remember Shadow Warrior above other games is because of Lo Wang and the stereotypical asian subject matter. So, if a "Shadow Warrior" reboot is to be made, I think that it is required to keep alive all of its essence. And, if the humour is substracted from the game, the game will not be (as great) as the original, because it will lack something.
Nevertheless, I have faith in this game and I think it will be a great addition to the FPS market and very fun to play. Despite I prefer the old setting, a new FPS with old-school gameplay style and set in a serious ninja context would be very much welcome, but I would not call it Shadow Warrior, if you ask me.

Which made a sub-par FPS that tried to be old school but failed to catch a quarter of its greatness? Hard Reset had some good ideas but it really wasn't great.

Its a common subject over this game to talk about the stereotypes, how far they,re going to go etc. Frankly, I don't care that much at all. I don't actually expect they can pull a FPS that understands anything of what made the old FPS good. The style was one thing, but it did not make the game.

I saw little in Hard Reset that makes me think they can impress me on that ground, but hopefully they will.
Take the Sw.grp file and add it to SWP(proasm port) ... play the game on newer operating systems in 1080p+ resolution and other upgrades.. absolutely for free.
