If I start up the 'Shareware' episode (setting on easiest difficulty since I have not played the game in almost 15 years and do not play many real-time games in any case) and go grab the gold key then try to run over and open the gold key door, I get the message that I "Need a gold key to open...". Any ideas on a way to fix this?

I believe you need to look for a keyhole near the door and 'use' it.

SCPM: I believe you need to look for a keyhole near the door and 'use' it.
I was at the keyhole and DID 'use' it which is how you get the "Need a gold key" message.

Hmm, that's strange. I only get that message when I try to open the door, whether I have the key or not. I don't get any message when I try to use the keyhole, also whether I'm carrying a key or not.

'Using' things is still done via the spacebar right? Meaning I stand in front of the keyhole, facing it and hit the spacebar to use it?

SCPM: Yeah.
Never mind. I just tried again, this time making sure I was facing directly at the keyhole and hitting space THEN doing the same for the door itself. I think before I was just assuming the door would open after using the key or else I was angled toward the door rather than the keyhole.
