since my turn left/right keys are A and D because I only use the cursors for movement, leaving the turn controls to their binds makes driving armed vehicles impossible without stopping to aim and fire. Left/Right cursor are taken for strafing so what turning keys should I map?

I'd say to try and bind them somewhere close to your movement keys or fire button.

Or use the mouse. Its X axis is bound by default to turning left/right.

Thanks. its difficult to use the mouse if there isn't a lot of room for it but it works overall. I went with RCTRL and keypad0 for turning just in case and it also works fine.
