What are people gonna do with it anyway?
Source port that's HD and doesn't require Steam, perhaps?

Fixing bugs and making it run on other operation systems (e.g. Linux).

Icculus got the permission to release his updates to the source code that he did in the olden days:
github

I'm very happy about this, it was very sad that the old Linux port was abandoned.
What I'd love to see is to mod the game, and make it for Duke Nukem-ish...
cities, sewers...clubs! Hundreds of strippers!
Unfortunatly we didn't receive any project with better modern OS support, better widescreen with text scaling, Vulkan API (like Dhewm3, for example). Very sad :(

StalinEXE: Very sad :(
The beauty behind the source going public is that you or anyone else could make those things happen. All that isn't provided is time, skill and determination. :)

I understand this but sometimes I remember about some project with openned source code like NOLF. Or died projects like Dark Forces XL. Or endless development like 0 A.D.

It is the reverse side of the medal. Just hope to see alive project exactly for Classic versions of SS.
