hi,how to change temporal "gog installer" patch,because i use ram memory one gig folder, it`s enough even for nvidia drivers,but not for gog installers???
i wish setup_serious_sam_4_1.01_(64bit)_(41481).exe /temp:d:\temp2 so it is too difficult?

I having the same problem the new 1.01 is 55 while this update for deluxe is version 41

I had a similar problem once, I think with the Witcher 3. GOG installers extract all files to your TMP folder before actually copying them to your game folder. If you were to download the 40 GB offline installer for SS4 and tried to install it on a second drive for example, you would still need 40 GB of free space on your OS drive during installation (which is pretty insane).

You can try to change the location of your TMP folder in your System Environment Variables. The TEMP and TMP variables point to the same folder by default (<user>\appdata\local\temp), but they are separate variables. The installers use the TMP folder, not the TEMP one.

Edit: The offline installer doesnt extract *all* files and then copies them all at once to the destination folder, it does so file per file. For SS4 though, this still means you need about 40 GB of free space on the OS drive since all the assets are packed into a single 40GB file.

Just wanted to say how much I hate GOG offline installers with a passion. This C temporary files is the worst, THERE IS A REASON PEOPLE USE A DIFFERENT DRIVE, just make a damn D:\GOG_temp folder as OP says and place the damn files there. Because of the horrible GOG installer I have to

- Fire up a Windows 10 VM with plenty of space on my big HDD
- Move the installer there
(wait how much will it take)
- Install it there
(more waiting)
- Move the installed files out
(EVEN MORE waiting)
- Play

All that because the installer devs though it was a good idea to process tens of GBs on the C drive instead of the chosen drive. And I don't have any hope this will change, no one cares, everyone has 1TB SSD C drive I suppose

To change default temp folder location follow the steps in the attached file.

Alternatively you can open Windows 10 control panel and search for Advanced system settings and follow from there.
For older versions of Windows you need to right click my pc -> properties rest is the same.

In step 4 under User variables you can see I've changed TEMP and TMP paths that's how you usually do it. For some reason after restarting GoG installer was still putting files on my C: drive. Only after changing those values under System variables and restarting PC it worked.

To revert back to old System variables values put %SystemRoot%\TEMP

Hope it helps people in future that will stumble on this same problem.

bruh, just change the enviermental variables and restart your pc

im confuse about this where is that folder tem in windows 10 64bit pro i dont see it and yes GOG i have C drive only for operation systems no games on it nothing!

In the Advanced Run window:
Add the GOG installer to the "Program to Run:" field.
Set "Run As…" to "Administrator (Force UAC Elevation)" in the dropdown menu. (Advanced Run doesn't have to be run as admin to do this.)
In the "Environment Variables" section, in the dropdown menu, select "Use only the following environment variables (ignore the system variables)"
Click the "Fill Current Environment Strings" button to the right of the dropdown menu. This will fill the text box with variables.
Find "TMP=" and "TEMP=" and change the path on the right of the equals sign to a TEMP folder of your choice. ("D:\TEMP","X:\TEMP", "Path-to-game\TEMP", etc.)
Click Run in the bottom right of the window, the installer should run and use the TEMP folder you specified instead of what is set in Windows.

I attempted to use Google Drive for the temp folder and it still says I don't have the space but I have plenty cloud storage. Anyone else try this?

Cloud storage doesn't work like that. The files first need to exist on your PC and then they will be uploaded/synced to your drive. So no, you can't use cloud storage as a temp folder for a setup, the files will be stored in GDrive's temp folder (which you can configure as well afaik).

This doesn't seem actually work. The installer will briefly keep it's own immediate temp files there, but still move the data stream to the usual OS TEMP location.

For me worked changing env variables directly. Just check how to change user environment variables in Windows, and set temp path for TEMP and TMP.
To ensure they are changed, open a command line and print them with "echo %TEMP%".
Restart session/PC if that shows the old temp path.
To be sure you can even open the installer ftom the same command line, just navigate to the folder with the installer, select with Tab the .exe installer and Enter.

INNOEXTRACT.

It lets you drop the files where you want, without doing a dumb "double extract".
