Whenever I try to bind keys, it keeps assigning to "axis 1/1 <".
Now a few times I've been able to assign to a different axis. They always show up as axis 0/x (eg. "axis 0/1 <" ), telling me that it is read as device 0/axis 1. Meaning that the "axis 1/1 <" is a different device altogether from my controller, and that it keeps sending input.
I've disabled everything but mouse, keyboard, and the controller in device manager, but problem persists. So I'm suspecting it's a compatibility issue rather than an error from my end.

tl;dr
Has anyone had success in binding the analog axis? When I go to bind them it keeps assigning to axis 1/1 <.
When I run the in-game calibration all my axis shows up fine and working as intended.

I got it! I worked at this all night and... finally!

I don't know if it matters but after trying everything, I ran the _d3d version of the game launcher (in a hail mary attempt to sloe the thing down.) Instead of binding joystick buttons off the bat, I selected "calibrate." I had to move the joystick in x & y axis AND adjust the throttle (z-rotation) up and down fully. Once I did that, I found that I could assign the joystick bindings without difficulty. I closed the _d3d version and ran the _gl version and the bindings were still good... finally!
