I've just purchased the game, my first observation was there are no speech during in-game dialogues (when you talk to other NPCs), only subtitles. Why? The voice acting was top notch in this game when I played the cd version some years ago.
This question / problem has been solved by Firekimage
The momentary fix solved the voices issue for me as well. I also tried playing it windowed but the framerate was horrible while playing full-screen is silk smooth. Haven't had any crushes or problems other than not being able to quick save or load like many other users.

I'm getting major windowed mode slowdown too to the point where that's unusable, but unfortunately I'm still getting frequent crashes in fullscreen as well..
Wait what? You mean the dialogues have voices? CHRIST! I'm on Chapter 8 already and I just assumed that only parts of the game had been voiced. Well that totally sucks.

I sort of understand the feeling as I played chapter 1 and half of chapter 2 assuming the same...
In this thread the post marked as SOLUTION contains a link to a fixed executable. Please replace this with the installed one. It has voices.

KrazyKain: i have to say... this worked :) and restarting the app on new chapters isnt that big a deal, not like your changing chapters every few minutes

Well, it partialy worked. The fix makes you restart the game after every chapter else, the voice and subtitles are skipped during dialogs.
However, there are still some dialogs which are completely skipped when engaged.
See the end of the fortune teller dialog in the spooky circus chapter. The last phrase before you go *poof* is completely skipped.
Please redownload and reinstall the game - we have uploaded a new installer today, one which enables spoken dialogue and fixes the problem related to switching chapters.

This solution for dialogues worked I must say but I Have another strange problem. Backround location music is very glitchy.

Can you send me this fix? That will be wonderfull.
no, you have to download the game again.
Ah man, I only just realised, when the credits rolled, that there were a whole lot more voiceactors than the three or so I heard. Well, I suppose that gives me an incentive to play the game again someday...

I just bought and downloaded the game and apparently even with the new installer the
dialogue voices don't work.
Game works otherwise just fine, is stable and runs smoothly.
Any ideas if this is fixable?
Oh, right, forgot to say that I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit as OS.

Yeah, I downloaded the game today, too. Got tons of crashes (never could play more than 5 minutes) and no spoken dialogues.
It seems the patch posted earlier still needs to be applied to the new installed version, as this solved all my problems immediately (even completely without the problems described when that patch was posted).
