Right now, even with the 50% sale going on for these games, the Steam bundle is still cheaper by a whole $7.50

I can't afford either at the moment, but maybe there will be a special sale like in May where Sam & Max games are cheap enough for me to buy. So I've got them in my shopping cart at the moment.

However, from what I'm reading, the gog version is quite buggy, and while the extra content that comes with it sounds nice, it also sounds like stuff I don't necessarily need. (That and the games are ridiculously expensive on GOG)

So, I'm wondering if, even if GOG gets a sale, if it's worth it to buy here. I probably will, because aside from the Sybil glitch in 101, it does sound like the games are overall playable.

That and I love the Quest for Glory re-release this site has, so I do quite like GOG. I just like Steam, too.

Sorry, my pocketbook needs a better reason than that.

The Sybil glitch is probably the only serious bug remaining in the GOG version and once you know of its existence it is actually quite easy to get past it. I've played through all 3 seasons of the Steam releases without a problem (other that the Sybil glitch).

Since Telltale is too lazy to fix any bugs in their older games I wouldn't be surprised if there were some unique bugs in the Steam version too.

The Sam and Max games were offered 85% off during a weekend sale last year on GOG, so if you're not in a hurry, it might be worth waiting some more. It is possible to buy them quite cheap on GOG, DRM-Free and with all extras :)

It's on sale now, I've personally bought the bundle since the price it was going for (about £3.50 in my currency) was a bargain.



As normal prices go, I tend to just look at prices rather than whether or not it has a Steam Key.
Games like Sam & Max have absolutely no features of benefit on Steam other than automatic updates (but TellTale are lazy and don't update anyway) so it doesn't really matter where you buy it.
If a game has something you're interested in such as achievements, trading cards or Workshop access, you're obviously better shopping elsewhere.


Even with games that you want Steam Access for, check other places first rather than Steam since places like HumbleBundle tend to give you both a DRM free version and a Steam Key (plus it tends to be a lot cheaper than Steam).
