MrBoat: lol!

I was thinking the same yesterday, Caine123. It's important to notice that this "fix" has no reason to exist on Win 8.1.
Please, if you're having problems to make it work smoothly visit my yesterday post:
http://www.gog.com/forum/saints_row_series/low_fps_saints_row_2/post4

You welcome Witcher_1979 :)
I still get the speed up bug on 8.1, IdolNinja even confirmed this happens to some people, that Steam forum post is outdated.

MrBoat: Here's a good way to learn how Inspector works:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H09MdIpR-uA

Simply, you go to:
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\support\1430740458\1430740458\add\NVI

Click on the button that's next to the Driver Version, put Saints Row 2 on the search filter, go to the bottom and you'll find "Frame Rate Limiter" highlighted. Click on the right button to change it to it's default setting or just select "PS_FRAMERATE_LIMITER_DISABLED".

Once again... A very bad move, GOG. Change your installation script as soon as possible. If people run into problems give this "fix" for them separately.
The game is somewhat choppy for me when driving vehicles on hight speed. I wanted to change the frame cap, to maybe fix that issue. However, in my Galaxy folder there is no support folder, and a search for "NVI" didn't turn up anyhting either (also not in the game installation folder, too).
Any idea where I can find the files to do the framerate uncap?
Does anyone have a solution for people who aren't using an NVIDIA card? NVIDIA Inspector doesn't do anything if you're not using one.

What exactly is the problem? Usually these two should be good to make the game run in correct speed & fix several of the driving problems:

http://saintsrowpowertools.com/
http://idolninja.com/sr2.php (<- The GotR Mod is a mod collection; you do not need to use anything beyond the driving fix)

Hold up. I don't know if I'm confused here or if you are. I'm talking specifically about the GOG.com version. The mods you linked to - primarily the first one - have generally been used with all other versions of the game (retail, Steam, etc.) as a means to get it running decently at all. Powertools is meant for when the game is running too fast due to a modern CPU, not because of locked framerates.

Anyways, my question still stands. Is there a way to unlock the framerate if not using an NVIDIA graphics card? NVIDIA Inspector doesn't seem to do anything on a system not running an NVIDIA graphics card.

Usually I am the confused ;)

I guessed your frame rate question was related to how too fast the game runs. I use both above mentioned on my gog version (I don't do steam) & it works like a charm (or rather as good as it gets, some cars are still stupid to drive but at that point I assume it just has to be, even in SR3 there are some vehicles I can't stand to drive). Never played around with the frame rate, so no idea about that (double no idea since I also use an nvidia card).

I'd like to know as well. I'm using an AMD GPU and every option, including the button to search for profiles, is greyed out.

Now I'm the one who's confused. If the NVIDIA Inspector is responsible for locking the framerate, but it doesn't do anything without an NVIDIA card, then if you don't have an NVIDIA card, your framerate should not be locked. Q.E.D.

Search in your game directory and subfolders for the program nvidiainspector.exe. Start it and remove the added saints row 2 profile.

Framerate in the GOG version is still capped to around 45 FPS if you remove that. Probably for AMD users.

Yes, I meanwhile noticed this. It seems as if GOG has modified the executable for this. No way to change it. Steam version runs with 60fps for me GOG version does not :(
GOG needs to fix their "fix" ASAP as I and many others DO NOT want to be capped at a horrible framerate, and I was wondering why no matter what I did would make it smoother and at a higher framerate....

I wasted a few days trying to fix this mess and now I learn they actually screwed with a already screwed up games code to supposedly fix it yet break everything else worthwhile, fantastic.
So now the fps can't go over 42 fps. That doesn't fix anything, anyone can cap the fps to whatever they like why the hell would Gog put a hard cap on the game.

Its now almost Christmas and GOG has not said a word regarding their screw up with this great game.

GOG if you could get a little 1 on 1 with your customers regarding these issues that would be great.
The reason we've locked our version at 30 FPS is that the game engine is build around 30 FPS and running it at any other breaks cutscenes, scripts, as well as some in-game content. If the cap is removed (ie. if the version of the game is not locked and the game can easily be run at a different FPS), a number of various stability issues arise. Our fix keeps the game stable and hence we won't be reverting it.

However, if any of you really, really want to remove the cap, please get in touch with our Support team and they'll be able to give you instructions on how to do this ;)
