Hi,
is there any chance that one of my all-time favorite games (that is Sacrifice) gets a Mac version?
I recently bought MacBook Air for work and stuff, but I miss playing Sacrifice.

Sacrifice had a Mac port made by Macplay, and it was released in December 2001, but I don't know if Interplay owns the rights to it. I'm not sure, but I think you can buy it from Amazon. Has no Scapex tho.

Thanks! I checked it out on Amazon, it's still in stock but it's not compatible with Mountain Lion, so that's it for me.
I was hoping though that GoG would make a port. :)

I don't have a Mac, so can't help much, but I say buy it and then try to find a solution to play it on modern OS. If I can play DOS games on my Win7, then you can probably make the game run too :)

Also, keep in mind GOG doesn't actually port anything, they just work with what they get from publishers, and I don't think the Mac version of Sacrifice is owned by Interplay.

The problem is that someone who had already bought it wrote that it doesn't run on OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, so I don't want to waste money just to come to the same conclusion. :)

And I know GOG doesn't port games, but I thought that when they can make 20 yrs old game run on Windows 8, maybe they can come up with a way to run Sacrifice on Mac. :)

Isn't there an emulator, Wine or something, that people use to play Windows games on Macs?

Wine...I forgot about Wine! Now I feel kinda stupid. But I checked how to run games via Wine and to be honest, it looked pretty complicated to me. :/ I know I'm being lazy and all but if there was an easier way to run those games, I would be eternally grateful.

Well, I don't know any other way :/ If it helps with anything, I use Dosbox for DOS games I get from abandonware sites, and at first I thought it was complicated, but once I learned how to do it, it was simple. Try using Wine on a Windows game that you already own, and if you can do that, then buy Sacrifice and play it.

Sorry, that's the best advice I can give...

Take a look at this post, apparently you can download wineskin wrappers from a site and use them to play GOG games:

Maybe it works with the GOG version of Sacrifice ?

Thanks a lot, Licurg!
I checked Paul the Tall's page and found a great number of wineskin wrappers for GOG games, then I google a bit and found another website where they were making Mac ports for Win games and there was a port for Sacrifice too, unfortunately dead. So I tried to make my own wineskin wrapper and I was able to run the game pretty easily! :)
But it's not ideal, resolution keeps getting messy sometimes, I can either play fullscreen but without the top 1 cm of screen or in a "window". But it's playable. The only thing I miss is the option to make groups via (Ctrl+1-9), only Ctrl+1 works.

Well, if it helps, I don't use groups playing, and I manage just fine :P Glad you can finally play it, be sure to mark the issue as "solved" if you don't have any further issues.

Try going to screen options in the wrapper, and checking the 'Use mac driver instead of X11" box.
This got rid of the flashing black area at the top of the screen, for me anyway.
